February News...
Feb 21, 2008
Hello Again~ I am bundled up in my jacket, gloves and wool socks staving off the cold. I have a beautiful view from my window of snow covered trees and a glistening ground cover, but it has been a bit challenging here with the ice. My family is having a reunion in Mexico and I am really wishing I had opted to go! Paul and I are diligently working on the next album and busy with other projects, one of which I mentioned last newsletter. Sage Sweetwater's adaptation to one of her novels is still underway and we are working closely with Finnur Bjork in Iceland with this project. We will start a series of video shoots starting this Sunday of some of our practices and the making of the up coming album and will be posting regularly on YouTube.com. You can access this by typing 'Shay Dillon' into the search bar on YouTube's website. With all the changes in the music industry and a slightly stressed :-) economy, I am putting together advertising proposals for upcoming full production videos, CD's and associated products. We are looking to sell Ad time at the beginning and/or end of the video to help fund this next project as well as spots on websites, blogs, newsletters, and the weekly video shoots. If you have a business or product that you would be interested in advertising and think we might be a good match with your product or service, please contact me at shaydillon@sbcglobal.net to receive a media kit. I am working hard to avoid having to put my music on the backburner in order to make the mortgage! (I know a lot of us are in this predicament), so both Paul and I have been burning the candle at both ends to step everything up a notch. Our studio and production website, Para-Sight.com, will be adding a social site (like myspace) for musicians and music lovers to come and share their creations as well as their thoughts and knowledge. This should be ready in a week or so. We will also be launching a Para-Site Presents Podcast within the month as well. Please join us there! If you haven't been in a while, there are quite a few changes to ShayDillon.com website. A new look and added media and links. I will be adding a social site there as well soon. Hotmix106.com will be joining us next month or in April for a live broadcast of me and the boys (We are working on a name for the band...my favorite so far is "The Dear Johns"). We will be scheduling the event here in Nevada City or the greater Sacramento area. I will be announcing when and where when we get things squared away. In the meantime, be sure to check out their internet based radio station at www.hotmix106.com...They are playing my songs! I picked up an article about music and wanted to share it with you... "This is your song...If you can't help belting along to Madonna (or replace with an artist that you like!) in the car, you may be doing more that giving your lungs a workout. "Music is an integral part of our neural makeup," says Daniel J. Levitin, Ph.D., author of 'This Is Your Brain on Music'. "Not only do songs access deep-rooted momories but music also changes your heart and respiration rates and can even raise levels of the feel-good hormone dopamine." In other words, your whole outlook can change with the right tune. How to unleash this sensory superpower? Take note the next time you find yourself turning up the volume, concentrating on catching lyrics or phrases, or moving your body to the beat of a song. Peaople usually know "their" song when they hear it, say Levitin. Explore new radio stations and take advantage of free downloads-you'll be amazed at what ispires you!" article by Anna Davies in Jan.08 issue of Redbook Magazine With that said, make sure you check out the links included in this newsletter for radio stations that have offered wonderful support to the smaller indie artist and the links to this month's featured artists!!! Shay's October Newsletter Hello Everyone! It has been a while since my last update and I have a lot to share! Everything here at home is doing well but Paul and I have been busy on all fronts! Paul just completed a Debut Album from an Artist from Texas, Daniel Vanaukin. After living here in the beautiful foothills of California, Daniel has decided to become a permanent resident. Check him out, and the songs recorded here at Para-Sight Studios: Daniel Vanaukin~ www.myspace.com/danielvanaukin Paul and I have been writing and recording for the upcoming album release. I am really satisfied with where the writing took us! We will be releasing sneak peeks of some of the material very soon. As a matter of fact, Comcast came here to Para-Sight to tape an interview and shoot the actual footage of laying down the final vocal tracks to one of the new songs...'Carnival Ride'. I will send out an email when the date is secured for when it will air. It will also be on "On Demand" through Comcast if you miss the original airing! Paul and I will be making a radio appearance on KAHI radio with Loyce Smallwood, Thursday, November 8th @ 9am PST. 950AM KAHI www.kahi.com I will have information on some other interviews, video airing etc. very soon! I hope everyone is enjoying the change of season, at least the one we are experiencing here in Nor Cal. The shift in seasons are my favorite times of year. Fall is particularly productive for me. It always seems to bring about closure for projects started earlier in the year and new ones arising from the old. An exciting time. There is a lot of information to include in this Newsletter, so I hope you hang in there and get it all. I take account of all my blessings and want everyone to know how grateful I am to everyone for coming along with me on this journey. I am blessed! Keep Creating... whatever that means to you. Your contribution, be it in your own small circle or a larger outreach, matters... Thanks to you all. Be sure to drop me a line from time to time. I have been away much of the time lately, but I promise to read and get back to you as soon as possible!
