Happy New Year Lou,
Just listened to Tush, another good job! The vocalization on that song is a hard one to match. I'm trying to do Allman Brothers Blue Sky but I don't have the vocal range. I'll either drop it down an octave or just make it an instrumental.
I had an accident New Years day and have been on short term disability. I've been trying to recover so i can get back to the grind. I just don't heal as quickly at 58 as I did at 28.
Peace be with you!

Lou,
I just wanted to thank you for your kind words on my cover of "Back in Black". I didn't sing the lyrics - it came with the backing track. I played all the guitars except on on the right channel that was already on the backing track that comes in a couple of times during the song. Thanks for listening!

Lou,
How's it going? I've been inundated with work recently, it's really sapped my creative energy. In addition to long hours, I've been doing a lot traveling. My strategy has been to visit a few music stores while I'm onthe road just to keep from losing my callouses. It looks like I'll be staying in Garden City, Long Island for the second week of November, then on to San Ramon, CA for a couple of weeks.
Keep the music coming!
Peace be with you

Lou,
I'm glad you like the idea of splitting out your cover tracks from your originals. I just listened to Surfin USA, great job on the harmony. I saw the Beach Boys in concert in '66, they are awesome. My son is a big Brian Wilson and Phil Spector "wall of sound" fan. I've posted a couple of his songs on my original page.
I don't have much experience with recording software. My son bought a Mac last year and uses Garage Band that was bundled with it. I bought him Cakewalk Music Creator a few years ago for his PC and that's what I'm using now. I haven't exhausted all of the features of Music Creator yet, but I've started looking at Sonar as an upgrade from Music Creator, when I'm ready. So far I'm satisfied with Cakewalk, it's inexpensive and has enough out of the box features to let me dabble without breaking the bank.

Louis,
For general purposes the music is from "backing tracks", a cd with the instrumentials only. added my voice after a practice run or two to get the balence of voice and music to a somewhat acceptable level.
Well done, taking the Battle of the Bands at the House of the Blues. Keep livin' the dream...
Have a Happy 4th.

Louis,
Thanks for your kind words on my cover of Johnny B.
My part on that is only the vocals, therefore a person like you that can play the music also is steps ahead of me.
My dial up connection is going to cause me to wait till the weekend to go sample your pages songs but I look forward to it.
Love the AC/DC photo, wish that the pipes would be used more often in our western culture of music.

Lou,
Got back from a week at the beach, a real vacation! Unfortunately the last day was blown out by Tropical storm Barry. But I could have been in the office instead of playing chrods on the back porch of the beach house. Thought I would come back with a new song, but all I have to show is sunburn, some fresh fish fillets and an uninspired chord progression. I did put together a a little blues tune called Brain Damage on Memorial Day. Check it out when you can.
Fun Fun Funtill Daddy takes the T Bird Away. Love that line. Keep the music coming.

Hey Lou,
Sounds like a family affair. Voice lessons are defintely a must on my short list of to do's. But it's after recording lessons, I really need to get a better understanding of sound dynamics. I also need to upgrade my recording software. Of course I need to renovate my bathroom, kitchen and convert the shed in the backyard into a pool house (e.g. recording studio) but that's all dependent upon the market staying on an up trend. Anyway, good to hear from youi. Stop by and check out my latest.
Keep on Rocking!

Lou, I know where you're coming from. I love Rock & crank it up for Hendrix & Zepplin. I love Blues and Soul and crank it up for BB King or Sam & Dave. I love Rockabilly and Bluegrass and twist the knobs for Johnny Cash and Earl Scruggs. I used to watch Hee Haw just to see Roy Clark play the guitar, one of the best jams I ever saw was Roy Clark and Glenn Campbell playing a guitar medley. My wife knows that I'm gone for hours when I head to the music / computer room. Sometimes, she joins me and will record a vocal track, but she'd kill me if I posted her singing on here. The trivia quiz on the picture of "I'm Always Right", is the Freddy Friehofer show out of Schenectady . I was born in upstate NY & my Mom put me on the show for my 5th birthday. Dance Dance Dance is a heck of a vocal challenge, good luck with it, let me know when you get it posted.
Peace be with you

Lou,
Just visited your band page and listened to "Wake the Neighborhood". It reminded me of a song I wrote in '65 for our garage band. It's bugging me now, I'm going to have to find the old reel to reel and see if it's worth a blast from the past. Last night I recorded a song I wrote last year called "I'm Always Right" If you get a chance check it out and see if you recognize the picture posted with the song.
Keep it coming.

Hey Lou,
Got your message, I agree about my good fortune. My family is a blessing, my hair is just genetics. I added C&L's Surf Rock Paradise to my station, it's got a good surf music feel.
Re-recording is an infinite loop, I didn't know squat about recording when I put my first dozen songs on Sounfdclick, (not that I'm an expert now). I'm just starting to understand the depth of my recording ignorance! I just hate to take the time to redo because there's so much music in my head. Last week was Copperhead and now I've got a country guitar instrumental chord progression it's a follow on to Daylight Savings Time. It's like an itch that I have to scratch.
I took you up on your suggestion and posted a couple of covers, Raunchy and Scotch & Soda. I made up a 2nd band page for cover songs only, it's a football analogy.

Lou,
I just listened to "Secret Agent Man" Sounded good. I have that song in my repertoire but I've always played it as an instrumental (re: Ventures A Go Go??) I thought you did a pretty good job on the vocals. I'm not about to cast aspersions about anyone's singing. I've heard myself sing and it's definitely a glass house!
Maybe that's one of my inspirations for writing my own songs, there's nothing to compare it to. It's the best way of assuring I always sound a good as the original. After listening to your songs I might go ahead and post one of the cover tunes I've recorded just to see the reaction.

Hey Lou,
I just took a listen to Pipeline, it is very polished and that dual guitar harmony was really tight! I have a slightly different rendition that I play. I haven't posted any cover songs here since I've started song writing, I've been I'm trying to get a feel for what people like. Maybe I'll break some cover songs out just for grins. What do you use for your beat? Keep on picking!

Lou,
I understand where you're coming from. I still play songs I copied from the Ventures albums in early 60's. I used to pick up my guitar a few times a year, knock the rust off the strings and retread the callouses on my fingers. After hitting 55, I realized, I may not have another 30+ years to find out what I want to do when I grow up. Except for fishing/ boating, the guitar is something I really enjoy. I can play it inside when it rains, outside when it shines, with friends, family or by myself. I doesn't cost $$ for gas, oil, bait, tackle, fishing license, sun screen, nets, buckets, batteries, bilge pumps, tentanus shots, etc etc. Keep the music coming!
Lou, Thanks for the birthday greetings, yes indeed playing music helps rejuvenate the old bones. Having a 6 year old running around the house keeps it pretty lively too!
