The band formed in the summer of 2003 in Kansas City. Jovid sings and plays acoustic guitar - she grew up in the Kansas City area, is 22, and has fronted two bands before 'in your absence'. Steve also grew up in the KC area, is 26, and has played in a few bands in Kansas City and Madison, WI. Justin is 24 and has been in bands in London and Tokyo. Dan is 25 and was in the KC band "Compound" for 3 1/2 years, before joining 'in your absence'.
