Story behind the song
SONG FORM/CREDITS/ATTRIBUTIONS: The Song Form is, as stated in the above Description, EP 13:00 - Movie Sequel Song - 2 movements/3 parts: "The Rise And Fall Of Legs Diamond". For creative song production/arrangement, Classical Music Composition Form was adapted for the JBBQ Jazz Fusion "Legs" Movie Sequel song. The First Movement is HAPPY DAYS - with 2 integrated "Roaring Twenties" music parts (fast tempo Charleston Jazz and Swing Piano Jazz). The Second Movement is LONELY NIGHTS - with 1 counterpoint (to the First Movement) "Prohibition Era" music part (slow tempo Harmonica Solo Jazz Blues). Narrative Voice Intros/Ending of the "Spirit" of Jack Legs Diamond spoken to Kiki Roberts: Dr. Robert S. Morrissey. Sound Effects of Lightening/Thunder/Rain: SoundBible.com and YouTube. THE FAVORITE OR #1 SONG OF JACK DIAMOND WAS THE 1928 POPULAR HIT VOCAL BY RUTH ETTING: "Happy Days And Lonely Nights". AND ALSO STATED EARLIER, THE LYRICS OF THIS OLD SONG WERE THE INSPIRATION FOR THIS NEW JBBQ SONG STORY CREATED FOR THE APRIL 12, 2019 CLICKERS CLUB MOVIE SONG CHALLENGE AT SOUNDCLICK. "HAPPY DAYS AND LONELY NIGHTS" LYRICS BY BILLY ROSE AND FRED FISHER: My memory takes me to The wonderful nights we knew When I made love to you Until the dawn You left and to my surprise I'm laughing with tear-dimmed eyes Because I realized I can't go on, my darling With a parting of the ways You took all my happy days And left me lonely nights Morning never comes too soon I can face the afternoon But all those lonely nights I feel your arms around me Your kisses linger yet You taught me how to love you Now teach me to forget You broke my heart a million ways When you took my happy days And left me lonely nights THIS IS A LINK TO THE MUSIC AND LYRICS OF THE ORIGINAL RECORDING OF "Happy Days And Lonely Nights": (MUSIC AND LYRICS BY BILLY ROSE AND FRED FISHER. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzNy5vvatmQ THE JBBQ MOVIE SONG TRACK OF "(When You Left Me) HAPPY DAYS RAINED LONELY NIGHTS" WAS PRODUCED AS AN INCLUSION OR REPLCEMENT FOR THE 1960 BLACK AND WHITE MOVIE: "The Rise And Fall Of Legs Diamond". ALTHOUGH THIS FILM WAS SUCCESSFUL AT THE BOX OFFICE, AND RECIEVED CRITICAL ACCLAIM FOR ACTING (INCLUDING ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATIONS), IT WAS VERY LOOSELY BASED ON JACK DIAMOND'S LIFE AND TIMES- AND, LIKE MOST SUCH DOCU/DRAMA GENRE HOLLYWOOD MOVIES, NOT HISTORICALLY ACCURATE IN MANY WAYS - PLUS SCRIPTWISE VERY INCOMPLETE. FURTHER, IN THE PROFESSIONAL OPINION OF JBBQ BAND LEADER DR. BOB MORRISSEY (EMERITUS UNIVERSITY DEAN/PROFESSOR/HISTORIAN/OTHER ACADEMIC AREAS - AND MUSIC AVOCATION), THE MUSIC SOUNDTRACK WAS MOST LACKING AS REPRESENTATIVE BACKGROUND FOR THE "ROARING TWENTIES" OF NEW YORK AND AMERICAN PROHIBITION DAYS/NIGHTS. IN ADDITION, THE MOVIE ENTIRELY MISSED THE OPPORTUNITY FOR AN EXCITING AND DRAMATIC "FINAL CHAPTER" ENDING (OR EVEN A FULL MOVIE SEQUEL) ABOUT THE LOVE AFFAIR BETWEEN MARIED LEGS DIAMOND (TO ALICE) WITH HIS LOVER/MISTRESS MARION "KIKI" ROBERTS - RECOGNIZED PROFESSIONAL DANCER WITH THE ZIEGFELD FOLLIES AND RELATED DANCING/MODELING VENUES. NOTE: AN EXCELLENT COMPARATIVE MOVIE EXAMPLE IS "BONNIE AND CLYDE": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonnie_and_Clyde_(film) IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO TELL THIS LOVE STORY BETWEEN KIKI AND LEGS IN THIS SPACE PROVIDED. IN FACT, A FULL WRITTEN/LITERARY OR OTHER ACCOUNTING OF THIS BITTER AND SWEET ROMANCE HAS YET TO BE PRESENTED. AS FURTHER INFORMATION AND BACKGROUND ON THE ABOVE, THE FOLLOWING LINKS ARE PROVIDED: ABOUT THE MOVIE "THE RISE AND FALL OF LEGS DIAMOND": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rise_and_Fall_of_Legs_Diamond ABOUT JACK LEGS DIAMOND: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legs_Diamond ABOUT MARION KIKI ROBERTS (SEE: "SAD LEGACY"): https://www.mcall.com/news/mc-xpm-1996-12-26-3112381-story.

Superb 3 part piece of music. Although I particularly enjoyed the piano and guitar parts, every aspect of the music is first class and thoroughly entertaining. I was fascinated to read the details behind the creation of this work. Beautiful playing, completely absorbing!

Wow I wish I could play guitar like that! Fantastic tune - great to hear you again Dr Bob, and that bass has me jumping round the room. Sort of difficult with a laptopn on my knee but I'm going for it. Then a gunshot by way of a coda, and into some super cool piano riffing. Amazing stuff - enjoyed this a lot.
