Story behind the song
This is a song of hard times and growing up on small east Texas farms. This is a story of my life as it was in the 1940's. Life was hard as far as money and wealth goes but we was very rich in God, Love, and family. These principles are still a strong part of my life, this is something that money don't buy and I wouldn't trade my life for anything in this world. I still think so much of Mama, she went to be with the Lord in 1972 and I still miss her terribly and thank her so much for her values in life. With this thinking I wrote this song, MAMA'S LOVE.
Lyrics
I watched Mama scrub my clothes on that ole rub board,
Not complaning one time about what she did,
But Mama, showed her love and affection,
For Jesus, Dad, and us five kids.
CHORUS:
Well Mama, gave us love and correction,
Oh yes, I can almost see it now,
But the best thing Mama taught, was about Jesus,
With Mama's teachings, I've almost made it through.
Oh yes, I saw Mama cooking for the family,
With sweat just streaming down her face,
When she finished, I can still hear my Mama saying,
Ya'll come to supper, then Daddy, he said grace.
CHORUS:ds
Bridge
Oh our family, we didn't have much of world's tresures,
But Mama, she thanked Jesus for the blessings on us,
I thank you Mama, for your great love and protection,
And thank you Jesus, for that made us rich enough.
CHORUS:ds x2
TAG: With Mama's teachings,Lord, I've almost made it through.
