Story behind the song
So far this is the only song Matt displays his guitar chops on. Originally written for his ex-wife...but now officially stolen for use as a Euphonic Dissonance piece. The vocals are directly influenced by the book "Cat's Cradle" by Kurt Vonnegut - one of Brian's favorite writers. The book is about the end of the world. This one was almost titled "Ice Nine".
Lyrics
CAT’S CRADLE ©2006 Euphonic Dissonance/Brian Copeland Thousands of years or more Waving tangles of string in Children’s faces A bunch of X’s between Somebody’s hands No wonder children grow Up crazy And suicide it solves so much For so many She’s laughing I’m not quick enough to answer Touched the cold hard ground Placed her finger to her lips And died And I cried All the earths a sheet of blue White pearl The sky fills with worms The sun Yes the sun It’s a sickly yellow ball It’s just there Tiny and cruel Where’s the cat? Where’s the cradle? See the cat? See the cradle? Watch the cat. Watch the cradle. No damn cat. No damn cradle.
