Steve Gilmore and In No Sense
Welcome To The Now (SG Powermix) Welcome To The Now (SG Powermix)
Originally an entry into acidplanet's remix compo, I failed to get this in on time. Sheesh. Anyway, I think it's pretty rocking....
Veranda (Safari Mix) Veranda (Safari Mix)
This is from a contest being run at www.beatsfactory.com featuring Cycleburner. I haven't yet heard the original of this but I KNOW it doesn't sound anything like this...Edit: Placed #6 in the final 10!!!
Go Go Boys (Bipolar Mix) Go Go Boys (Bipolar Mix)
The reason that this is called a bipolar mix will be obvious once you hear it. Hey, I heard two songs in this OK? :) My entry into acidplanet's Jason Rylan compo...
Don't Let Me Down Don't Let Me Down
Carrying on my tradition of mixing and matching cultural sounds, DLMD is probably a natural successor to tracks such as Asian Itch, Massi and the like. A mixture of Indian percussion and sounds and a banging bhangra beat
Reality Is For Suckers Reality Is For Suckers
Like Short, Reality Is For Suckers is one of those tracks that seems to spring to life of its own accord - and usually from a musical phrase or two.
Kasha Kasha
THE successor track to Massi (probably my biggest crossover track so far. Kasha took a long, long time to get right but I think this is about as good as it gets for me...
Beware Sleeping Giants Beware Sleeping Giants
Don't let that smooth, dreamy beginning fool you, this is a rocking 'dub' track that has more twists and turns than your average corkscrew
Have You Got The...??? Have You Got The...???
One of the musical areas I have been concentrating in my own music work is to use scratching properly.
A Life Within A Life Within
Like a lot of my tracks, this started life as a bassline groove and kinda grew from there.
Indestructable (Shutdown) Indestructable (Shutdown)
I had already written this track and was holding onto it until I found a vocal treatment that would fit it.
Below (World Mix) Below (World Mix)
Composed entirely from samples from the Creative Commons/Magnatune site (see http://ccmixter.org/magnatune/view/contest/sources) for more details), the smoking vocal tones are from Lisa De Benedictis
Forsaken (Dance Of The Damned Mix) Forsaken (Dance Of The Damned Mix)
NOTHING like the original track, I completely rewrote Forsaken from the ground up, giving it this Soussxie and The Banshees punk treatment that I believe works a treat.
Friend Or Foe (Rockist Mix) Friend Or Foe (Rockist Mix)
I found it spectactularly difficult to do anything original with this track, but I thought I'd give it a more rocky sound than on the original... My entry into the AP remix compo.
Don't Speak (BMix) Don't Speak (B******* Mix)
I do love a bit of old fashioned rock and roll and I couldn't resist this track because it lends itself so easily to the genre. My entry into the AP remix compo.
Pass Out (Redneck Mix) Pass Out (Redneck Mix)
In which your pal meets up with dark electro-punks The Steaming Dookies, and teaches them the value of a good 'yeeeeaaahhh' sound. Sound weird? You bet. This track won SECOND place in the remix compo!!
Loco Noise Loco Noise
A remix entry for an Acidplanet remix of TWO tracks; one by Latino Saint and one by DJ Spyder. Even then, I still added about 30% more, never satisfied me.
The Rock The Rock
In memory of all those who suffered during the 7/7 London bombings and all the other atrocities perpetrated in 'God's name'. I believe in life and I am not afraid.
Massi Massi
A blend of Chinese and Western instruments, with an Indian vocal line. I've had the rhythm structure for around a year just waiting for the right vocal to turn up, and when these ladies landed on my doorstep I knew I had completed the track.
Short Short
As soon as I heard this chord progression it so reminded me of something the Small Faces did (Lazy Sunday?) that I knew I would make something of it.
