Story behind the song
The song the Bible Man was inspired by first of all a trip to Ireland, when my Celtic creativity came to life. Secondly, by the very graphic t.v series entitled'Rome', that historically was only 44 B.C. that was the era that our Lord came to, in order to preach the Gospel and bring salvation in a very troubled and barbaric time. Lyrics
It was Roman times
it was Roman law
violence was everywhere
from the bath house to the coliseum
corruption was blazing its trail
people cried out in anguish, in despair
and then came the Bible man
chorus
the Bible man, so strong, so true, the Bible man, help us we need you
Lord, your bright eyes pierced the darkest soul, and your voice calmed all fear
you were that tall, gentle, man in a saviour's role
drawing those desperate crowd near
were you a teacher, prophet, healer, or all of the above
people longed to be close to you
totally consumed in your love
chorus
the Bible man, so strong, so true, the Bible man, help us we need you
you welcomed the lost, and gave comfort to the lame, their burdens you took at a cost, despite their name
you were the one who offered peace to a troubled land
and they called you the Bible man
2000 years have come and gone
but his ancient words still live on
when you feel that noone cares for you
cry out, he'll hear you, that beloved Bible man
chorus
the Bible man so strong, so true, the Bible man, help us we need you, the Bible man, so strong, so true, Bible man bring us home to you, Bible man, bring us home to you The Bible Man written by maureen visscher copyright 2008 all rights reserved vocals by David Wills
