UK-based country singer songwriter. 'I sing about beer and heartache, but not a drop passes my lips.'
Story behind the song
Written for Halfpenny Orchestra's Loteria challenge. I "drew" number 42, which makes a cameo in the song, although not in a Hitchhiker's Guide sense. The card was The Skull (La Calavera)...so, being a "folkie", this had to go the way of a murder ballad
Lyrics
The suna€™s near up
My time is nigh
And come dark morning
Theya€™ll hang me high
Chorus: If I had my time again
I would have let it go
But whata€™s around the corner
We can never know
I told him not to cross me
On that fateful day
For flouting my advice
I took his life away
Chorus: If I had my time again
I would have let it go
But whata€™s around the corner
We can never know
The gavel come down
And the judge he says
a€œYoua€™re gonna hang
in 42 daysa€?
Left my wife in the ci-ty
Left my kids at home
Lord, Ia€™m gonna miss them
Now I feel so alone
If you get in a corner
Please remember me
Waiting here for the sunrise
I shall not live to see
