Inspirational Anthology
In my career as a songwriter and publisher I had the great pleasure of knowing Country Artist, Roxie RJ, a great guitarist as demonstrated here. I’ve never heard such warmth and feeling for Blessed Virgin Mary as he demonstrates in this song.
The inspiration for writing this song begins with my parish priest of many years ago. His beautiful sermons touch on the relationship between Blessed Virgin Mary and her son, Jesus. His sermons drummed home the idea, that praying to Blessed Virgin Mary was like having an inside track to Jesus. His sermons were so inspiring that I developed a great dependency on her.
Without going into great detail there came a time when I needed her most in a failing business venture that was headed for bankruptcy, when she came through with a truly miraculous ending.
At that time, and for well over a year, I prayed to Blessed Virgin Mary, via her statue in my parish church. I made countless Novena’s, Station’s Of the Crosses, Daily Masses, and Rosary’s, in desperation for her help.
This particular Sunday, when I looked at her, her facial expressions were quite different from what I’d always been accustomed to. She appeared to be life-like with an unforgettable demeanor and smile.
I left the church feeling a great peace and comfort. It seemed she was telling me that everything was going to be okay and two days later, after receiving a phone call from an unlikely party, and over a period of about two weeks the whole thing was resolved freeing me and my family from all debt and liability.
Because of its controversial nature, I guardedly confided in some of my family circle and others, including a well-known, religious scholar who gave this advice:
“Enjoy these experiences of faith, and that you have no obligation to share those publicly; that you have indeed struggled through many years of your life, and that it is wonderful to know that your faith has been very real and close to you. People might consider this a “kooky” experience, and sharing those personal expressions of faith can be very difficult and even embarrassing; that sometimes these personal experiences create even further harm to others and to ourselves”.
A beautiful prayer of her that always sticks out in my mind is the Memorare. It goes:
“REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.”
