Queen of the Cover Songs...
This is something I'm doing just for fun -- to live out a lifelong dream since the age of around 7 or so when I realized that I could carry a tune (without the use of a bucket!) and it didn't sound bad.
Much love and thanks go to those in my SoundClick family (and now beyond!) who helped to encourage/challenge me to spread my wings to try this out and continue to take it to the next level. Without your kind support I'd still be just a listener (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Thought I'd start here as I know this song so well.
So clear and it really kicked in when you got to the chorusy bit and you hit the high notes. It was just right at the end, not too long at all, well done!

Hi Mary, Love the oldie, goldies. . .brought me back to those days but of course I was a kid and fairly young. LOL!.... Keep singing because the more you sing and record the better you will become with experience. I have had help with my recordings so, you are a step up from me. I will be trying some things as well but it's hard for me because I play and sing ... and it's best to find someone to work the knobs a bit while recording in areas where the music may have dynamics, etc. Of course, it's something that can be adjusted to the final mix. I have much to learn in recording and so much new material that needs to be recorded. I'm experiencing equipment failure and waiting on the guy that promised to take a peek at that for me. Look forward in visiting again soon. :)

This is really a nice song, and I like that your voice is loud and clear on it, it's pleasant to listen to. It's already very well done, and I agree with what some-one else here said, that one can hear even more talent hidden somewhere within.

I'm not much help regarding software as I rarely ever use it - I tend to create all the music from scratch via hardware and instruments, so I have total control over the whole mix and what goes in it. I can count on one hand the times I've used a sample. I can however comment on the vocals and they really took me back - like listening to Mama Cass all over again! You're sounding great! I can also recommend that you study videos on vocal technicalities - it will help your breathing and approach, making things easier and giving you more confidence to take on even more difficult songs. You've definitely got what it takes.

Ok...on the advice of a few I played around with the mix a bit and uploaded a newer version with the volume kicked up a bit on the vocals and down a little on the music. See if that is any better. (Note: the background music is silent on the left channel throughout the first verse so I don't think there is anything I can do to correct that.)
And of course, thank you for the comments. I'm learning a lot even in this infant stage of this new venture. :)

Really great choice, you have a wonderful voice and I enjoyed the listen a lot. I know you are a talented writer and I think it would be a fun idea for you to kick back and start writing some lyrics, then over the following days melodies will just come to you. An entry level Yamaha keyboard (amazingly versatile with the same Grand Piano chip as the expensive ones) is only slightly over $100.(Musiciansfriend.com). If you just stick with the white keys to start you can write music and create melodies in the key of C. I enjoy your cover tunes but I know you have the sensitivity and passion to start writing your own music. Hell, we were never ready and basicly just wing it (and still do!) and have a hell of a lot of fun writing tunes. If you need any assistance we're all here for you. :)

I can remember 'Mama Cass' doing this and you have
a good version of it here. My only nit is to boost
your voice. Vocals ride on top. ;) Nice!
