A song about divergent paths adapted from lyrics written by Jon Bushaway.
The power of the spoken word or spoken image.
Story behind the song
Jon Bushaway wrote some lyrics in response to an instrumental piece under my band name 'Larry Ludwick'. The piece was 'The Exodus'.
I felt it would be difficult to adapt the lyrics to the piece. However, I did rewrite the lyrics slightly to fit them to another piece I was currently working on. This song is the result of the adaption.
Lyrics
I walked on not looking back
Though I knew your eyes were watching me.
I felt your eyes ask for return,
But I was blinded I would not see.
A part of me was already gone
I could not turn back from what was said
And it would never be forgotten.
The years were long, the years were hard,
The years were wasted and so sad.
Your tears were often, your tears were harsh,
Your tears they damaged all we had.
Past the point of return.
A sense of sadness all around.
My footsteps were pain as they hit the ground.
I was right, at least that’s what I believe.
A life is shared from below and above.
We had simply fallen out …
Simply fallen out of love.
