Story behind the song
Straight 4/4, composed in the key of E Major partially because I love the sound of the open bass E string laying there in the pocket plus I got to play it on my newly acquired Fender Jazz…Yea! My guitar solo was inspired by some of the awesome guitarist’s here on SC. The horns …well…what can I say… a labor of love. The title reflects my musical up bringing in Chi-Town hanging out in the upstairs clubs. Had much fun writing this one. Hope you enjoy it- Al Massey

Update: The Fender Jazz bass is kickin'. Great drum track and nice guitar work Al. Smokin' Ascenzion horns. Cool piano bridge at 3:08. It's an honor to, on occasion, rub elbows with this track. ha! i love the "north side"! and i love this song too! very city sounding...allot of action in this tune! i venture into the "lake veiw" area every so often...it's always nice in the summer and i love to watch the sailboats drifting by. river north is beautiful at night too. lots of great night clubs up there! :D great job!

This one is very energic, makes me want to move. The strong repetetive bass line gives a base to the song on what you can improvise with brass, guitars and whatever. There is a nice change around 3:00. I like it. Very good job! Tasty.

Great guitar solo! Man, I wish I could play with the wah that way ;) But also the unisono passages of the brass are beautiful. Real Instruments or VSTis? Seriously, if they are VSTis, they are rendered *really* great. If real, cheers to the players. Really nice. it groove very well, the changes inside are great - the guitar-solos between are catchers-wonderful, again a perfect production with a very fine background and a beautiful bass-line - masterful in all aspects....
