Story behind the song
My son wantd to write a song about Kickin' out the footlights and singing for the King, and we came up with this unique song, that really fits us folks thats been on the road for so long.
Lyrics
I've been kickin' out the foot lights lomger then i care to recall, from honky tonky to the high rollers at carnige hall, sometimes a little crazy, sometimes a little sane, always searchin' for somethin' that never came. Then one Sunday morning, in a little town, that looked a lot like home in a little cafe over coffee, Lord I felt so alone, A little church across the street had caught my eye, and I thought, whats to loose, anyway, I'm just killin' time. Chorus I quitely took a seat in the last row, everyone shook my hand with a big hello, thers no strangers here, make yourself right at home, then sudenly, I didn't feel so alone. Instrumental (then) resitation As they opened their song books and bagan to rise, that ol' outta tune piano in the corner came alive, I was new to these Kind of songs, but I opend a book and found myself singin' along, Ah, there was love and light on those faces like I'd never seen, Then it dawned on me, I was in the presence of the KING, On a lonely Sunday mornin' in a little town in between, Life started over----- WHEN I SANG FOR THE KING.
