How The Story Ends
By Tom Tognaci
Where theres a mountain theres a trickle
And water gathers in a stream
Over falls, into a river
Emptying into the sea
..For everything with a beginning
There comes an end eventually.
I dont know why we cant start over
Why do the good things have to end?
If I were a poet, Id write over and over
The words youd want to read again and again
But Im not a poet nor a writer
Thats just the way our story ends
Its how the story ends
If I could write a new beginning
I d start with, Once upon a time
Id have a happy ever after
For our storys closing line
A timeless tale, and one worth telling
Oh, God, I wish it could be mine
If only I could start all over
Id be the hero, not the friend
And youd keep a book mark to read over and over
The place where Id be loving you once again
But I am not God nor I his poet
Thats just the way our story ends
Its how the story ends
Its how the story ends
