Story behind the song
My father's family survived The Dust Bowl of the 1930's. The stories I heard growing-up inspired this song.

DUST by Larry Garrett 08-30-09
(Em)They gave us this house and 25 acres of (C)Oklahoma dirt.
(B7)Daddy said, a01DWe make our stand (Em)here.a01D
We fought the Dust Bowl droughts to (C)grow our corn and beans.
But for (B7)years of toil, a018bout all we had was (Em)tearsa026(D)Oh the (Em)dust.
In spring, 1937, my little sister Lucy was born.
Her laughing smile brought hope back to our days.
But The Dust Bowl was no friend to the weak and small.
Dust pneumonia took little Lucy away.
