Story behind the song
There was a time when anything west of the Hudson River was "out west". Explorers went through these parts as early as the late 1600's but the Seneca Indians were already very well established and organized. They did not share the settlers enthusiasm about colonization. This song is about the hopes and dreams of the early homesteaders.

For some reason i missed out on the story that you posted on the CC blog so i have no idea what kind of problems you went into putting this song together or when you were recording it. When listening to it now i still dont get it, cause it really sounds like you had a great time doing this one. :) Its a wonderful and happy sounding tune and it makes me smile. :) The guitar, mandolin and harp sound great! Excellent performance. Really nice work! :)

A very pleasant and happy song. Listening to it, you wouldn't think that it could have caused you so much trouble recording it. It is extremely well played all around and had me tapping foot with a big smile on my face.

Like some of the others I read your story about this on the clickers page...wow amazing amount of work you have to go through just to coordinate a collaboration! This song sounds so good and has all of the sprit of the old west running all through it. The guitar and harp sound great and are well performed and the mandolin takes it up another notch when it kicks in. Great song Charlie! I am glad you submitted this one or I would have probably missed it.

Thanks for sharing your story about this one Charlie. Terrific mandolin and guitar pickin'. Nice uptempo vibe (hand clapping music). Super harp playing. (I heard a little chuckle at the end of the song.) Well done my friend.

Thanks for submitting this one to the Clickers Club! I hadn't heard this one before, so very glad you drew my attention to it. Fantastic song, love the upbeat vibe. The production and playing are brilliant. All the collaborations I have done in the past have been done in the same way (the hard way), so I know the effort that went into putting this together. It sounds flawless - the perfect song!
This is brilliant. What's amazing to me is how comfortable and effortless it sounds - you can hear the smiles at it plays. A memorable tune that feels like it's been around a long while - thank you for sharing it.

Mate this is bleedin' brilliant ! (pardon my language I'm a cockney) when I hear this I wish I was American. If a picture paints a thousand words then music paints a thousand pictures and they're all in my head now,all those westerns all those cowboys all those guitar pickers, that whole other world we saw on the screen and heard on the radio over here, it's all there in this recording. You and the guys are are at the top of your game here without even trying-it comes out like beer from a tap.Love the way the harp changes on the minor, but you don't need to hear that from a wannabe English cowboy.Cheers !

Great, this one reminds me of an ireland trip I made a couple of years ago.We were sitting together in a pub and someone started to play guitar. Then I got a guitar and about ten other musicians came along and we played the hole night. Thanks for the memories Great collab

The most interesting in this song is expression.. we used to describe music as expressive when it reflects feelings.. but pictures of life are so diverse.. here is one of motion.. plugging the tunes of "Wagons West" to the realistic background of that wagon in your page makes a wonderful dynamic picture.. if it is in a movie.. I cant imagine a better music to accompany.. cheers

Sounds like covered wagons to me, Pinedog. I always enjoy the way you can paint a picture to music. I wonder what came first, the wagons, or your tune. Anyhow it's a good one. It was a pleasure to do some pickin' with you, brother.
