After reading about the Sand Creek Massacre, and Chief Black Kettle, I wrote this song on his behalf. The lyrics are a prayer from Black Kettle to the Great One, right after the attack on his people. God bless the Native Americans.

Lyrics
Blood in Sandy River Blood in Sandy River Kevin Miller 2010 Great Spirit, do you know me? Out on this buffalo plain? I lost all my good horses, At night, when the white army came. The sky is dark, it is blowing With lightning, thunder, and rain I run from the soldiers of suffering. The guns, the fire, and pain. Chorus: There’s blood in Sandy River. The wind is a cry from the brave. Great Spirit, do you know me? My brothers have gone to their grave. Verse II Great Spirit, can you hear me? My voice calling down from the hill. Our food and our houses were taken. Brave women and children were killed. The Antelope went out to greet them. White devils, all covered in blue. The horse splashes mud on his body, The shame of a promise, untrue. Chorus Instrumental Break Verse III We traveled in this cold, dark cloud. Do we peacefully sleep here again? Great Spirit, do you know me? Our Women, children, and men. Chorus

Perfect Kevin, doesn't get any better ... Incredible write my dear friend ... just incredible
Kevin, this is just wonderful. Sad but important words fit into an extermely well done musical scene. I love it! And right now I imagine listening to your upcoming album in a car stereo, very very loud (Yes, I think it´s not only appropriate to listen to hard rock music loud but to any music that touches your soul) Congrats, man! Please please let´s do a collab!

Hey Kevin, you're on a roll! Another great idea, one more good song for your album :) A distinctive delivery, but comparable in quality to some great names, no doubt. The suffering and doubts of this Native-American, the fact that he can't quite believe this simply could have happened are very well pictured. Kudos! I think you still need tweaking a bit, though. Second half of the chorus: you strum this surprising - but good - Major chord which suddenly uncovers brand new territory, and then you go back to - and end the chorus with - I'd say 'safer' grounds, not so different from the verses' color, imho. There must be something you can beat there! Anyway, they say great songs are rewritten and I think this one's a keeper for sure. And I'm proud to know you :) Take care, Yann
