God is with us in spite of life's storms. Ps 107:23-32 and John 6
progressive pop jazz blues country christian contemporary melody celtic orchestral bible sax musette
Many genres, Contemporary Christian, Lyrics, instrumentals
I write my own songs ;) I have a very diverse taste in music, from Pop to Classical, including Rock, Folk, Jazz, Country, World Music (Celtic, Romanian), Old Timey Stringband/Bluegrass, and Latin. All these styles are in my Christian Contemporary catagory. I usually write the music first, and then put words to the music. Though I don't sing good enough yet, I though I would put my instrumentals out along with my music. Generally, I think my music/lyrics are getting better, being more skilled now than when I started.

Story behind the song
At first, I just wanted to write a song in minor. After this, I first wanted to call it, 'Under Control'. There are quite a few old hymns and Christian songs, old and new, about the storms of life. The arrangement is not BIAB. It is a Korg style that has several phases. It seems to have a 'Fantasia' effect. Now, the chorus ends in the tonic, for those who like that. Ps 107:23-32 ESV (compare with John 6) 23 Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters; 24 they saw the deeds of the Lord, his wondrous works in the deep. 25 For he rcommanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea. 26 They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their evil plight; 27 they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits’ end. 28 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 29 He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. 30 Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven. 31 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! 32 Let them extol him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
Lyrics
In His Arms In life's wild and restless blue sea There's a safe place of refuge for me Though I set out away from the shore There's one place that I keep going for Chorus: In His arms In His arms There is peaceful assurance and rest In His arms In His arms Like a dove that comes home to its nest And with all my soul I know that God's in control He means no harm For I'm safe, Safe in His arms In a moment, the blustry cold wind Makes me fear like I never have been As the squall line and thunderhead form I know One who knows peace in a storm (chorus) As the waves crash and come over deck Such a terror I learn to respect And the lightning shines out of the sky I call 'May Day' in prayer at His side (chorus) All at once, I find shelter in port And the voyage, through grace, was cut short I'll remember that Shepherd who saves For He held me up over the waves (chorus) David Davis copyright 2010
