Story behind the song
I wrote this song for my wife of almost 20 years. She gave me two great kids, who are musicians now. Sarah is the best mom in the world. The story is true. Aspens are my favorite tree, and she planted some right outside our window.
Lyrics
Cool Fall Nights ©2008 Kevin Miller You got the brains, I got the muscle, You think things through, and all I do is hustle. I’m from the farm, You’re from the city. And sometimes when we clash it aint too pretty. Chorus: But on these cool fall nights, When the moon is shining bright, The wind is dancing through the aspen leaves. I go back and realize, Everything worked out just right. Happy you’re still lying next to me. I wanted family, You wanted freedom. And I left you home alone to raise and feed them. And the times weigh hard, Sweat, toil and tears. It’s a miracle we made through the years. Chorus: But on these cool fall nights, When the moon is shining bright, The wind is dancing through the aspen leaves. I go back and realize, Everything worked out just right. Happy you’re still lying next to me. Bridge: When things don’t go the way you planned, I’ll put flowers in your hand. Instrumental break & chorus

Hey Kevin, Love it! Your songwriting is great. Your intro "She got the brains, I got the muscle" brings you into the song like warm apple pie in the kitchen. Awesome Mando!

Sometimes that's the other way around (the brains and the muscles) lol! The best songs written are for our loved ones - and this one's a pretty, melodic story. Well done Kevin ;^))

Really fine song in any category. Brings a tear to the eye.
Wonderful from A to Z. This is simply great. Down to earth writing, powerful, soulful singing, perfect pickin and strummin. Love it! And hey, it´s a REAL REAL story that happens all the time between men and women and it´s one of the big tasks keeping ships from sinking, right? Kevin, this is also something I would call a PRO mix and masters. Congrats from the other side of the pond, my friend! Andreas

What a great song Kevin. So open and honest and down to earth. Nice melody, good lyrics, and very well sung and played. Good mix although my old ears wanted a wee bit more volume on the mando in the break. You're an excellent songwriter Kev. Your family band is wonderful but glad to see you are keeping your solo work alive and moving forward as well. This is a gem. Adding to my Treasure Chest station.
