Christian music veteran Mick Rowe returns to CCM for his solo debut. '80's fans may remember Mick from the band TEMPEST (Pure Metal Records/Star Song Records) or the band PLUSH (Absolute Records) in the late '90's. Others will know Mick because of his brother Jamie Rowe, formerly the lead singer of the band GUARDIAN and now with LONDON CALLING. “Ministry is one of the most important things in my life!” says Mick Rowe, a new solo artist out of Terre Haute Indiana. “I feel like all music can be passionate, but in my opinion, the most passionate music is Christian music. I know many may not agree with me, but I feel that Christian music is very important in today's society.” Rowe continues, “I have seen so many people uplifted and encouraged because someone had the passion of Jesus Christ, the passion of music, and put them together.” Mick Rowe began his solo effort after being in several bands that always seemed to lose their focus, and felt that if he did things on his own, he would have to answer to no one but God. “When you have several members in a group, you have several opinions and several different beliefs. When you represent yourself, you are accountable for your actions only.” States Rowe. Traveling all over the United States, Mick has seen many people come to know the Lord through music ministry, and knows the importance of sharing the salvation of Jesus Christ in any musical setting. “Why would someone miss the opportunity to share Jesus Christ with someone, just because they want to be entertaining and not offensive? I hear a lot of bands confess they’re not a ministry, but they are Christian entertainment, and I must ask, is that what the Bible tells us to do? No.” continues Rowe “The Bible I read tells me to go out into the world, and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am proud to say that is what I'm going to do.” Rowe explains “These may be strong words, but I feel we are losing ground by just sitting back, and not standing up for our faith. I watch television news, and I see how children are treating their parents, with little or no respect.” Rowe continues. “I see how everyone else treats their brother, like an enemy. The Book of Romans tells us, that in the final days, the world will basically go to hell, and when I look out my window, I can see that to be a truth.” Mick Rowe goes on to say “we have just looked away too long, and tried too hard to fit in with the world.” If most people would read the Bible daily, they would see that we are not going to get along with the world.” Rowe believes many bands, and labels are un-equally yoked, and does not feel that God will honor that for long, that being a reason why we see many labels being bought out and liquidated on a monthly basis and bands left out in the cold. Mick Rowe does not claim to be anything, other than a servant of Jesus Christ, and that is what he is going to be no matter how un-cool or unacceptable that is. “I am not the world's best musician, or the best songwriter, but I have a thirst for sharing the love of Jesus Christ with music, and feel blessed to have a chance to create music that may impact someone else.” states Rowe. Mick wrote most of the music on this compact disc several years ago, when he recorded a collection of songs dedicated to his wife. Initially, Rowe planned to release the project under the name Mindset 7, but disbanded the group due to lost focus. Rowe wrote and recorded all of the music himself and decided to release the collection of songs with a few new ones that show the direction that Rowe is taking for the next project. Even though the songs are a couple of years old, Rowe felt they still sounded fresh, and that they would make a good product for the people that have not heard of him before. Summertime is a collection of songs that deal with salvation, the love of a spouse, worship, relationships and the celebration of love. There is even a 1980's cover song “ Don't you forget about me” that was made popular by the film “The Breakfast Club” Mick Rowe’s history in Christian music dates back to the 1980's, when Mick was the founding member and guitar player for the Christian metal band Tempest. This Christian heavy metal band featured his brother Jamie Rowe (that went on to sing for Guardian- Word/Epic). After two albums recorded for Pure Metal Records and Star Song Records, Tempest called it quits in January of 1990. Mick left the music industry for several years, until he was asked to join a band from Evansville Indiana in 1996. Rowe joining the band (yet with no name) asked if he could name band and give it direction. The members agreed, and Mick Rowe formed Plush. Plush recorded a debut project for Absolute Records in 1997. While recording the project, Mick felt the band was not up to potential and did not want to rush the project. Rowe left the band in 1998. Mick recorded an experimental project during 1999 in his living room. The project was called Midnight Orchestra. M/O was a Goth/Ambient project that Mick recorded for his own personal listening. After several people listened to the project, Mick was told he should Release it to the public. Mick released the project during Halloween of 1999, selling 3000 copies independently. Rowe was offered a contract for Midnight Orchestra in July of 2000 and was picked up by a new label E-Magine Music based out of New York City. During this time, Mick was hired by an outside company to write a metal project for a singer that sounded like Ozzy, and wanted the music to sound like old Black Sabbath. Mick wrote and recorded the music at Soundlab Studios in South Carolina and upon completion, the company folded and Rowe bought the Masters and released it himself under the moniker Goliath. Goliath was picked up by the Music Cartel/Caroline and released worldwide in 2001. After constant touring with bands like Disciple, and great reviews in Guitar World, Hit Parader and hundreds of zines, Goliath was not his personal style of music and decided to delete the project, and start recording music that expressed himself and his true feelings. After many failed attempts to do this project as a band, Mick went on the solo road for his musical journey. Summertime is the debut project from the singer-songwriter Mick Rowe
