Story behind the song
Caledonia was originally the name given by the Romans to the north of Great Britain. Its contemporary use is as a romantic or poetic name for Scotland. The song was written by the Scottish singer/songwriter Dougie McLean.. Stef Sigfalk sings the lead part on this album, he learned the song from his friend, the singer Ronnie Carthy during numerous music sessions in Baltimore, West Cork.
