Story behind the song
This traditional song was collected by Ralph Vaughan Williams in 1904 from the singing of a Mrs Verral of Monks Gate near Horsham in Sussex. Here Brendan Wade interprets this old English song.

I like all your stuff I've listened to so far, just so well done, inspired and inspiring, but this one has especially caught my ear. So, I make this comment. Maybe it's because I grew up in Kentucky and actually worked for a blacksmith for a while when I was very young.
