I've been writing and playing music for 30 years now and as the technology became better and cheaper I have practiced the difficult task to produce as well. Story behind the song
This is Jude's russian challenge. The lyrics are a translation of Alexander Pushkins poem "Winter Evening". I have found the translation on this site: http://www.pushkins-poems.com/index.htm incase you are inspired to read more.
Lyrics
Winter Evening (1829) The storm wind covers the sky Whirling the fleecy snow drifts, Now it howls like a wolf, Now it is crying, like a lost child, Now rustling the decayed thatch On our tumbledown roof, Now, like a delayed traveller, Knocking on our window pane. Our wretched little cottage Is gloomy and dark. Why do you sit all silent Hugging the window, old gran? Has the howling of the storm Wearied you, at last, dear friend? Or are you dozing fitfully Under the spinning wheel's humming? Let us drink, dearest friend To my poor wasted youth. Let us drink from grief - Where's the glass? Our hearts at least will be lightened. Sing me a song of how the bluetit Quietly lives across the sea. Sing me a song of how the young girl Went to fetch water in the morning. Our wretched little cottage Is gloomy and dark. Why do you sit all silent Hugging the window, old gran? Has the howling of the storm Wearied you, at last, dear friend? Or are you dozing fitfully Under the spinning wheel's humming?

Inspirational. The concept alone - setting Pushkin poems to music, would have been genius enough, but you have matched it with a fantastic composition and an outstanding vocal. It's not easy to set a translated poem to music and still get it to sound natural, but you achieved it and how. Top performances from Dale and Finn finish off a highly professional piece. 5 stars!
Babulisious song, enjoyed it CHEERS C & N

Excellent arrangement in this Rocker - I liked the flute, reminded me some of Jethro Tull. Cool lead guitar at the end. Cheers!

Love the way you brought this poem to life Lasse! Dales flute is enchanting, and holds on well when the song gets heavy, and Finns guitar is a soaring beauty!

The vocals are what really amazed me with this track. The music and production is also top notch and well done, but the vocals sound different (better) than what I've ever heard from you. Great concept and collaboration!!!

Great tune written around such wonderful, visual poetry, great choice. Powerful chord progessions. Excellent vocal delivery, love the way it was phrased. The flute (plug ins wouldn't cut it here!) work sets the mood ideally. The lead guitar gives it an epic spin, a very nice edge. Excellence, congratulations to all involved.

The poem is amazing, I've never heard it before and I'm glad you found a translation. The music is stunningly good, superb production, beautiful work on the flute and great guitar playing - it conveys a lot of emotion. Love the melody, very soulful.
