In the early 1980s I was working at a hospital in a non-medical department. One of the microbiologists in the lab area (not my area) was married to someone who worked late nights in a restaurant/bar, and therefore was surrounded by many beautiful young babes. One day I heard one of her co-workers say that she advised her (subject of song not present at this time) that she should take more care to fix herself up in anticipation of his arrival home, obviously to be better able to compete against all those at his workplace, even though this thought was not specifically voiced. This piece is what developed, and was many years in the making.
