Story behind the song
I found this ancient, mystic spot accidently on the internet and read that George III. used to go there. I thought that probably a lot of people have been there in past hundred years and have told their desires and secret wishes to the well...
Lyrics
Chorus
I am the Upwey wishing well
and I've seen more than I can tell
I've met Queens and Lords and Kings
they gave me diamonds, pearls and rings
I've seen beggars, whores and tramps
they gave me pebbles, pins and cents
I am the Upwey wishing well
and I've seen more than I can tell.
1. verse
They come to me when the Kingdom falls
the people rise after warlords' calls.
They come to me when corn won't grow
their cow is sick and the food runs low.
Chorus
2. Verse
They talk me about unanswered love
say prayers to me and to God above
They talk to me about their misery
about the unfairness and poverty.
Chorus
3. Verse
All the requests that have been said
I keep sacred in my bed.
If their wishes did come true
I still don't have a clue
Chorus
