Story behind the song
A true story that takes the listener on a road trip with my Sister, myself and aging Father. He had already lost a Sister and Brother to old age. He decides it's time to visit His ailing Sister. After years of thick headed arguments they finally decided to forgive and forget.
Lyrics
FORGIVE AND FORGET packed his clothes;to travel His destiny would soon unravel He closed his eyes and he could see A highway burned in memory To say goodbye was now familiar First his brothers; now his sister Braving the snow and then the rain only two of them remain Family pictures, joy and laughter memories for ever after Little presents to exchange can only erase the memories of pain just forgive and forget forgivea€¦..... and forget Not alone in this endeavor Never doubting what-so-ever Bravely facing all her fears Is his wife of all these years Holding onto one another Now dependent on each other Try to think of what to say Standing at the entryway Family pictures, joy and laughter memories for ever after Little presents to exchange can only Erase the memories of pain just forgive and forget forgivea€¦..... and forget Stumbles to her day bed Held her face and kissed her head Said a€œI love youa€ and "by the way" I still have one thing yet to say just forgive and forget forgivea€¦..... and forget just to forgive and forget The journey home, skies were brighter Heavy hearts that felt much lighter spirits lifted like the rain Free of years of guilt and blame Family pictures, joy and laughter memories for ever after Little presents for us to exchange can only Erase the memories of pain just forgive and forget forgivea€¦..... and forget

This song is so special!! I love everything about it.......but you know how much I love ALL your music! Eileen did such a great job with the lyrics, writing them as soon as she got home with the 'feeling' of the day still fresh in her heart. Beautifully put to your music Jamey!! The mandolin has been such a great addition to your sound. Randy's surgery took so much of my time that I am just now getting caught back up with Soundclick!! It's fun to come back and see all the new additions folks have added. Thank you SO much for mailing me a copy of Blue North!! It's another WONDERFUL Jamey Darnold CD!!! Love you, #7 Rosie Clare

Howdy Jamey, "Forgive and Forget"....a beautiful track with your voice prominently delivering the story so well and the steady pace of your guitar, backed by subtle mandolin accents..... this is a pleasant listen, taking my attention deeply into the story..... superbly performed!!!!! Each little nuance, each little detail, and each note, softly becomes part of the pictures, painted with these uniquely descriptive lyrics!!!!! So, superbly written that I thought that you had written it, until I read the name..... Excellent work Jamey, this is the kind of work that draws a listener into the world that you paint with your vocals & your musical talents!!!!!!!! Respect & Admiration, Wade
