Story behind the song
Some months ago we were asked to write a song for the plight of the Kangaroo. Teresa, an animal advocate in Australia, tracked us down in desperation after hearing our interview with Sue Marchant at BBC Radio Cambridge. Teresa wrote to tell us of the horrific slaughter of thousands of Kangaroo each and every year. We could not ignore Teresa's letter and her plea to end the killing of the Kangaroo was heartfelt and compelled us to do something to help these beautiful creatures. We hope you will also sign the petitions below and be a voice for the defenceless who are depending upon us to help them survive. Will the amazing Kangaroo, the icon and emblem of Australia, become another victim of mankind's wish to kill everything that lives wild and free? Great! What a wonderful blues tinged ballad to shine the light of hope on such fascinating creatures, the 'roos. Lordy...some of those high notes are in the stratosphere! Great acoustic tone and playing...like sitting in your living room hearing the song. Maria you are the best lyricist on this site hands down. How Paul finds the perfect arrangement is just plain magic. Excellent tune!
