This is a tribute to the Delbert McClinton/Tommy Castro school of R&B, which inspires me like no other... Rock on, boys!

I'm a guitarist, singer, and songwriter from central Kentucky. My music is a mix of many different influences; from the country and western I heard as a child to some stuff I heard yesterday. I was a full time, working musician for over twenty years; doing clubs and concerts all over the eastern U.S., but mainly in Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio, and Florida. I have played every kind of venue; from the smallest, seediest club to 10,000 seat concert halls. Loved every minute of it. I also spent many hours in various studios as both musician and producer on a variety of projects. I am now a part time musician; I divide my musical time between writing and recording my own songs and playing with a great bunch of musicians in a band called "The Grandees". I write songs primarily to make you shake your money maker. I'm not deep, and I'm certainly no virtuoso. I just want you to have a good time. The songs I have here are from my second solo CD, titled "The Twisted Tale Of The Honky Tonk Monkey", which is available at CDBaby.com and my upcoming CD "Bad Choices Make Good Stories". My first CD, "All Night Radio", is available at CD Baby and fine CD discount bins everywhere. Thank you for visiting, and... TURN IT UP!!!!!

Story behind the song
I always wanted this song to remind the listener of the old R&B bands of the 60s and 70s. There's nothing like a good, tight bar band blowin' killer dance tunes late into the night. This version has a new vocal and drums, with a bit more of the "live" feel I was going for.
Lyrics
I was always the one standin all alone Now I'm waitin all night for you to answer the phone The day I saw you changed everything If there's a country called Lonely, baby, I'm the king If it cost to be a fool I'd pay a double fee Feelin like a big ol bag of mixed up me I was sure of myself and ready to fall So you took me out back and pinned my ears to the wall When I caught my breath you were miles away I don't want you tomorrow I need you today Burnin like a fire in a hollow tree Feelin like a big ol bag of mixed up me BRIDGE: If I'd known it would be like this I'd never stray too far from your kiss It's true Yes it's true If I'd known how low down can get I'd never have left your lovin' yet I'd stay right here and be the one You're lookin for to get your hard work done If I ever find a way to get back to you I'll do all the little things I never used to do Like rub your back when you're feelin bad And makin you happy when you're feelin sad I'm as much in love as a man can be Feelin' like a big 'ol bag of mixed up me
