contemporary Christian folk/pop, a little bit country singer/songwriter
I hope you enjoy my music. All songs were written by me (Alice L. Mitchell) and produced and arranged by Scott Faircloff (yea!). So feel free to listen, but please don't copy or distribute these songs without my permission, because they belong to me (copyright 2003) :) These three songs are from my demo. If you like it, please feel free to leave me an encouraging note. If you don't, shhhh! (just kidding!) Of course, if you happen to know someone at a Christian record label who might want to listen, I will be happy to provide you with a tangible copy of my demo to hand them. :) If you'd like to know what's going on with me once in a while, please sign up for my mailing list and I'll let you know! update: 9/21/06 Thank you so much to all of the wonderful people who have left messages on my board! I am available for events in Tennessee, Alabama, or anywhere less than 5 hours driving from Nashville.

Story behind the song
Like most people, I am sometimes plagued by self-doubt. But this song reminds me that we are all like works of art in an art gallery -- each one unique, yet beautiful in its own way -- and that in God's eyes we are all wonderful creations. I was also realizing that the places of influence that I had (and we all have ours), while they were the things that made me effective for the Kingdom, also were the very things that opened me up to criticism from myself and others.
Lyrics
Looking in this looking glass, what am I to find? Perhaps someperfect piece of glass, or maybe gold refined? But I don't find... Is my nose a little too short? Is my hair a little too long? Do I talk too much, and CHORUS Why did You hang me on the wall, for my mistakes to show? Why did You hang me on the wall? Do you think I'm beautiful? Walking through this gallery of Perfect art I find that Eveyone is questioning Your beautiful designs Is my nose a little too short? Is my hair a little too long? Do I talk enough, and CHORUS The more I look, the more I find that Everyone's like me They fail to see the beauty of the painting they call "Me" They say CHORUS The more I look, the more I find that everyone's like me... Why did you hang me on the wall?
