Story behind the song
“Xero” is a relatively minimalist piece, performed by Antipriest using only the ‘Ouigitar’, processing, and a minimal injection of percussion, added to accent on the tribal feel, while giving a dramatic and unexpected shift of context. Tuning has been allowed to erode as a system of order, and is at the mercy of time and vibration. Like a wave, once started, unstopping till it breaks upon its shore. Like the incessant song of the cicada, the sky fills with the sound of a swarm of huge mechanical Locusts summoned by ancient priests to cleanse the world of impurity, come centuries too late for them to see… Their Larvae planted in our head, we become dead and blind, soulless. O We stand at the edge of Nothing, The Food of Gods. Revelations 9:3 “And out of the smoke came forth locusts, upon the earth; and power was given them, as the scorpions of the earth have power”. The Ouigitar The Ouigitar is not so much an invention, as a discovery, an evocation. Born of an old lap steel guitar, was a method for calling out the spirit and tones embodied within. Separating further and further from the physical, to subtler and subtler levels of manipulation. Electronics, Vibration, Gravity, Magnetism, and finally Telekinetic Force and the Psychic Manifestation of Spirit in Musik. The Ouigitar has only just begun to reveal its secrets, … to sing its song.
