My Band is me, in my little recording studio, ie spare room. I.m a postie to keep the $ trickling in and whenever I can, I'm in my room 'playing around' The name 'through a glass darkly" is taken from 1 Corinthians 13:12 and alludes our seeing the things of God now very dimly.

Story behind the song
Love's Regret (the trials and tribulations of Edmund Butterfield) Today I decided to knuckle down and work on some ideas that had been floating around in my head over the past few days, and this is the result - a slow waltz for piano and viola. Hope you enjoy. ( Edmund Butterfield lived in a little town called Sutton round the middle of the 19th Century. " Edmund H. Butterfield was born in Fairlee, Vt. in 1819, moved to Island Pond in 1846, and after living there, and in several other places, located upon the place where he now resides. He married Ursulia Foster, for his first wife, who bore him six children, as follows: Emily, of Haverhill, N.H., Andrew E., of Richford, Vt., Riley, who lives in Thornton, N.H., Ella J., who died at the age of nineteen years, Elam, of California, and Ursulia, who married Arthur Kincaid, of this town. Mrs. Butterfield died in 1862, and he married for his second wife, Ellen McIntire, of Fitchburg, Mass., in 1866. They have one child, Harvey W. " (Source: Gazetteer of Caledonia and Essex Counties, VT.; 1764-1887, Compiled and Published by Hamilton Child; May 1887, Page 345-354)

Derek, I find this composition a masterwork in the art of chromatic modulation. How subtle armonic transitions giives a romantic mood supporting a smooth melody somewhat tender and nostalgic that looks like rendered from a dream, Really nice. Luis

Hi Derek, So Thankful you have pointed this one out to me l agree with Juri this is very sorrowful as its title suggests, its beautiful too as well, but there is a place for this song, deep in the soul, well titled never the less, it does pull the hearts deeper emotions of loves regrets, well done never the less, l suppose many would identitfy with this as a feeling of such loss in love lost. Theres great passion and class in your music Derek Its intense without trying, the melody is one that sticks with the listener long after its been played :) This is wonderful songwriting and you delivered it beautifully! Excellent musicianship and nice production too,but I think it could use just a bit more verb on overall mix, just to give a little more "space and presence" like if it was played in a concert hall But this is just my thoughts Great job!!!

peace Derek, i'm a sucker for those weeping strings that tug at the heart. the minors always bring remembrance of hardship, where the seeds of victory have been planted, may there always be tears of hope & compassion as the Lord waters His garden. nice piano & the strings are always tugging. bBlsd bWl peaceRrock
