Pistol Whippin’ Ike is more than a band; it’s a new sound, a feeling of raw energy, an attitude, a knockout punch.
Pistol Whippin’ Ike’s sound can be described as a new breed of high-energy rock and roll. Powerful heavy groove oriented rhythms take the listener on a roller coaster ride from slow slight curves to a full throttle all out assault on the senses. With emotional, dramatic, and melodic vocals the listener is drawn in; drawn in too deep for escape from this ride. Pistol Whippin’ Ike’s music has the kind of power that drives people into moshing frenzy, yet they can be heard singing along with every word that is emitted from the stage.
Pistol Whippin’ Ike formed in March 2000. They played their first live performance on Oct. 28, 2000 at Halloween festival at Loco Hill in Anna, TX. Before a crowd of 200, they blew peoples’ minds with their new sound until the cops came and said “enough”. Their next live performance, Dec 12, 2000 was an opening slot, at Graffiti’s in Dallas, TX. The show went so well, and the crowd response was so overwhelming that the owner offered them a headlining slot as they walked off stage. Within three more shows, Pistol Whippin’ Ike was invited to headline the March 2001 Harder Beat Magazine Showcase at the Galaxy Club in Deep Ellum, Dallas, TX. This event showcases some of Dallas’ most promising up and coming new bands, in which Pistol Whippin’ Ike enthralled a house full of music savvy people, and left them yearning for more.
In a very short time, Pistol Whippin’ Ike has stood up and taken charge of the listener. It is being felt and noticed in the North Texas music scene and beyond: Pistol Whippin Ike has played support for national touring acts, has had three songs chosen to be on the 2002-2003 Gravity Games Videos and compilation CD, was signed to Omni Entertainment/ Caprice Records in July of 2003, endorsed by Carvin, and won Best Hard Rock/Metal Artist of the 2003 Dallas Music Fest. Just ask the people who have witnessed Pistol Whippin’ Ike in action, they can explain why. And remember, “Nobody whips you like Ike!”
