Contemporary band compositions, classical music arrangements, marches, jazz, symphonies, overtures. A collection from bands that I have played in throughout hi
Hello and welcome! "Symphonic Band Performances" is a compilation of recordings from several high school and college bands that I played in including the TMEA (Texas) All State Band, the TMEA Region X All Region Band, the Interlochen Arts Academy National Music Camp, the Cal Poly Tech Band, San Luis Obispo, the USAF Golden West Band, and recordings from my h.s. band, Beaumont H.S. and a few band recordings that were passed down to me. Also included are various All State groups and college and university bands. I participated and played in the large majority of these recordings. There are no professional recordings here and every recording is Public Domain. Most are available for free download. Each song has been converted from the original analog or digital source and edited with Audacity or Dak software. In the majority of these recordings, I play the tenor sax or alto sax, b flat or e flat clarinet, or directing. I was drum major for 2 years in high school, I have a BA from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where I studied music ed, composition and theory. I had about 500 more recordings I was planning to digitize and upload, but this past Nov. 20th, my home was completely destroyed by fire, and all the contents, including all my music and instruments. So, this is it. Please feel free to post a comment here or on my member page. If you like, please become a fan by clicking "I'm a fan" below.

Story behind the song
"A Taste of Honey" is a pop standard written by Bobby Scott and Ric Marlow. It was originally an instrumental track (or recurring theme) written for the 1960 Broadway version of the 1958 British play A Taste of Honey (which was also made into a film with the same name in 1961). Both the original and a cover by Herb Alpert in 1965 earned the song Grammy Awards. A vocal version of the song, first recorded by Lenny Welch, became popular when it was recorded by The Beatles in 1963.The original recorded versions of the song ("A Taste of Honey", "A Taste of Honey (refrain)" and "A Taste of Honey (closing theme)" appeared on Bobby Scott's 1960 album, also titled A Taste of Honey, on Atlantic Records (Atlantic 1355). After being used in the film, the composition won Best Instrumental Theme at the Grammy Awards of 1962. Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass recorded the most popular instrumental version of this song with a a cover on their 1965 album, Whipped Cream & Other Delights. This recording spent five weeks at #1 on the adult contemporary chart, reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and won three awards including Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards of 1966.

IVAN, Hello!!!!! I have always liked this song and you have played it so magnificently!!! I used to have Herb Alpert and the Tiajuana Brass records in the 1960's. Thank you so much for the station add, kind words and rating of my new song ANNA MAY!!!! You made me so happy. Yes, and thank you for wishing me happiness. Ivan, I am having second thoughts about the engagement. I'm scared. He is much too young for me. He is only in his twenties and I am 57. I want to do what's right so I must think , and figure it all out. He is from another country and I already have my passport. He is supposed to come get me in May. Say a prayer for me.:) I am comfortable with you and some others on the Soundclick to talk about it. I feel close to the people here. Friends!!!!! Hugs and Blessings to you and yours, Lekzee
