

Born in Guyana, South America, Paul Christopher Caldeira was surrounded by rhythm. His early exposure to the music of the Carribean and the percussive, melodic influences of Brazil led him to form his own band in which he played drums and percussion. Guyana's unstable political environment drove Paul's faimly to seek asylum in Canada, where he continued to evolve as an artist....
In Toronto, Canada, Paul's professional career found him playing drums and singing background vocals in the local bar scene. Being exposed to rhythm & blues and jazz for the first time, he found himself drawn to the voice as a melodic/percussive instrument of expression. Shifting focus from drummer to singer, Paul led his own band and developed a strong local following, simultaneously dabbling in the radio and television jingle industry..Interest from south of the border soon followed, and took him on a trail of discovery throughout the USA....
There was a strong demand in the American casino industry for Paul to work with folks like Bill Cosby, Bob Newhart, Don Rickles and Joan Rivers. Although this was lucrative and fun, he was artistically unfulfilled, and even with several songwriting partnerships, soon relocated to Toronto....
Back in Toronto, Paul set to work writing and co-producing his first album, "Love and Other Obsessions",with Drummer/Producer Greg Critchley which yielded the national single "Somebody to Love". Notables like songwriter Eddie Schwartz ("Hit Me With Your Best Shot") and publisher Frank Davies (TMP/Alliance) took notice, as did radio program directors across Canada. Assembling a new all-star band, he resumed touring North America, playing his unique blend of third-world rhythms, R+B. Latin-pop and Jazz...
Since then, Paul has worked with acclaimed Jazz-Fusion band, "The Code", led by guitarist John Pelosi, with Paul supplying his voice for the album "Figli di Baia" as well as songs from The Code's upcoming CD, featuring "Vienna Anna"...
He is now in the process of writing and co-producing a new Smooth Jazz CD slated for release in the very near future......
