I've been writing and playing music for 30 years now and as the technology became better and cheaper I have practiced the difficult task to produce as well. Story behind the song
“The Circle of Life”-project was born after the Christmas Cover Competition 2007. I met a lot of nice people on the chatboard there and decided to try to gather some of these fellows for a collab – and what could be more suitable than making a tune for the next holiday: Easter. That tune was released last year and then the idea was born. I decided to make a series of tunes which lyricwise should describe the event of the specific holiday – and musicwise should support it the best way I could think of. Luckily Morten Gjermundsen who contributed with solo on “Easter” invited me to visit Jude’s Coconut Blues Club, and in there I heard Kevin’s incredible voice on the player and thought: Oh my… If I in any way could get him to participate on my little project here, then I would be a VERY lucky man…. And yes – he joined on “Easter” – and now also on the first 2009 release “Palmsunday”. and there is even more to come on Easter Sunday I will release “Easter morning Sun” – alså featuring Kevin and many more.
Lyrics
Sunday morning in Jerusalem People came from all around It was the place to be to celebrate the spring So they lived around in tents or a shelter in the town Strong authorities, suppression everywhere Those were the days for everyone Lots of tensions between the leaders and the men And everyone they hoped for a change in the wind They saw that he was coming down the hill And the citizens came in from the fields They cutted branches from the trees, spread them on the ground Cloaks on the road Cause a king has come to town. They saw that he was coming down the hill And the citizens came in from the fields They cutted branches from the trees, spread them on the ground Cloaks on the road Cause a king has come to town. There was a donkey and its foal down there And they were tied up to a tree Untied them both and brought them up here And if anybody asked they would get them back they’d see So he rode towards the city gate Unarmed he came in piece He knew it all – he knew the risk that he would take So determinately he rode – into the prophecy They saw that he was coming down the hill And the citizens came in from the fields They cutted branches from the trees, spread them on the ground Cloaks on the road Cause a king has come to town. They saw that he was coming down the hill And the citizens came in from the fields They cutted branches from the trees, spread them on the ground Cloaks on the road Cause a king has come to town.

A wonderful assembly of talent from around the globe combine to create an extremely special piece. First and foremost a beautifully written narrative, the music wrapped around it with precision and care. Michael's perfectly crafted additions to the introduction set a humanistic and instantly relateable atmosphere that draws in the listener and sets the bar for the dramatic production that follows. Absolutely spectacular vocal performances by Kevin and Anne, sparklingly beautiful rock guitar by Paul and Steven, and the orchestration by Jacob and percussion are simply marvelous. Everything really, pure excellence, a track to cherish for a lifetime. Congratulations to everyone involved! :)
