A song that really speaks from the heart. Its about actions and consequences.

I had my first 4 track cassette recorder when I was 16 and I've still got most of the recordings, but you won't find those here! Some funny, some stupid, some ok bits, lots of rubbish! 30 years later I'm still writing and recording my own stuff - drum machine, bass, guitars and keyboards - (which I'm learning). Soundclick is breathing a bit of new life into my music - it's giving me an outlet, a meeting space, a place of inspiration. I hope that in the coming year, there will be some collaborations and swapping of music, thoughts and ideas. I do seem, however, to be spending an awful lot of time at this computer.........

Story behind the song
Written by Danny Horton - to remind himself of actions and their consequences. I recently did the backing for Danny and thought, hmmm, this is in my key. I was not the intended vocalist for this, but it just sort of turned out that way! We hope you enjoy. We did!
Lyrics
Momma used to tell me when I was young Don't eat that yet, you'll burn your tounge But I was young, and bit it anyway Daddy used to tell me when I was a boy Don't touch that son, it's not a toy But I was young, and I just had to play When are you gonna learn? When are you gonna see? Decisions you make today in life could last for eternity When are you gonna learn? When are you gonna see? Everything you do in life affects everybody Momma used to tell me as I got older Don't be that way, you can use my shoulder But I was proud, and I just ran away Daddy used to tell me as I got colder Don't say that, son, you don't even know her But I was dumb and said it anyway

Wow! Outstanding production of a great song. Great story line and everything is perfectly balanced in the mix. Awesome guitar playing and the subtle electric lead brings it all to a perfect climax. I'm afraid 5 stars is not nearly enough for this one. I had to create a new station just for this one. :)

Beautiful production, has a Pink Floyd feel in the vocals and arrangement. The guitars, acoustic and electric lead are both just wonderful, love the solo going out, and the lyrics and vocals are sweet to the ears. The story here is one I know I can really relate too, as anyone else can probably, we all were once young...and become wise later. I'm new to your music John, but really love your voice, and will be listening to more, I already know what a great songcrafter Danny is, and you both have made a wondeful piece of music here, thanks for letting me know about it Danny....and thanks for sharing it all with us here ;)

John, Excellent performance and production of Danny's irresistible songwriting. You made this your own while being true to Danny's one-of-a-kind expressions. Super clean production! I am jealous. ;-) You deserve all the success this track has earned. Love the bluesy guitar on the outro. Well done, both of you. Your fan, Johnny

Good lyrics that fit well with the tune of your song. Love the guitar interlude, the strings from the keyboard in the background is great too. Kinda a sad song in talking about consequences of life, but oh so true. I wouldn't change a thing. Love the way you faded out on the end as well. Thanks for letting me know about this. I really like it. ~ Judy ~ :)
