Story behind the song
After listening to, admiring and performing covers of the Southern Rock genre, I guess it rubbed off because I started to write in the Southern Rock style. That music is so rich and real that it motivated me to write this song and others like it. Special guest guitarist Al Pitrelli takes the middle solo and turns it up a few notches for the hot guitar battle ending with Woody!
Lyrics
There were times when I thought I'd settle down.
Times that I thought I was nowhere bound.
Times so hard I'd lay right down and cry.
Now I know to settle down's not the thing for me.
And I know where I'm bound is my destiny.
And hard times turn to good times when you try.
But the hard times will soon be over for me.
By the mornin's light you and I will see.
That the heartbeat songs we play,
will see us through another day.
And we'll all be singin' a rock‘n’roll melody.
Many days you and I had a love to share.
Many nights I was thankful you were there.
Girl you know I'll miss you when I'm gone.
It ain't easy to do what I have to do.
But the music inside me tells me true.
I guess I'm sayin' I gotta keep movin' along.
But the hard times will soon be over for me.
By the mornin's light you and I will see.
That the heartbeat songs we play,
will see us through another day.
And we'll all be singin' a rock‘n’roll melody.
There were times when I thought I'd settle down.
Times when I thought I was nowhere bound.
Times so hard I'd lay right down and cry.
Now I know to settle down's not the thing for me
and I know where I'm bound is my destiny.
And hard times turn to good times when you try.
But the hard times will soon be over for me.
By the mornin's light you and I will see
that the heartbeat songs we play,
will see us through another day,
and we'll all be singin' a rock‘n’roll melody.
