Story behind the song
The song was written in loving memory of my 15 year dancing partner Dorothy Weaver (may2,1921-June21, 2007). We used to dance at Moonlight Gardens Ballroom at Coney Island in Cicinnati Ohio
Lyrics
Gee my love Iwish that you were here with me
We'd hold each othe close, just like before
We'd do the Moonlight Ballroom dance once more
They would play your song and you would sing along
we'd hold each other close just like we used to do
I'd do the Moonlight ballroom dance with you
well your not here with me that's plain to see
and though i'm dancing love with someone new
All that I can do my love is think of you
But they will never sing your song, they'll never steal your kiss
They'll never hold you close my love, no that could never be
They'll never do your Moonlight dance with me
Well I'll be coming home and you'll be with me
We'll hold each other close just like we did before and then
We'll do the Moonlight Ballroom dance again and again
We'll do the Moonlight Ballroom dance again
