He sounds like “The Roots band on steroids” or if “Metallica went Hip Hop on us”. Those are just a few of the comments being made about hip hop/rock artist/guitarist/producer Heron Demarco.
Born in the inner city of Queens NY, Heron’s refuge was emceeing and producing. He began tapping into his abilities at age 9 and since then has learned to play 3 instruments and has recorded a slew of material.
A self taught guitarist and producer Heron’s style of hip hop doesn’t contain the typical clichés fans are tired of. He’s the perfect blend of metal/rock/hip hop/soul that has his fans following his every artistic move.
As an emcee he has been called brilliant, witty, humorous, introspective, and jaw dropping. As a composer he has been called incredible and has gained the attention of many guitarists and hip hop producers.
“Although I’m very serious about the art of emceeing, I’m also just as serious about my guitar playing as well as producing great songs “It’s tough because a lot of people don’t expect rappers to know anything about music, composition, and songwriting so it’s an uphill battle to gain respect”.
His first album Mutiny, a genre bending, fast paced, take on hip hop, garnered the attention of many major labels and has since become a favorite among his fans . It’s spurned favorites like the introspective and melodic “Fire Flies” along with the humorous and infectious “The Hate Song”.
“Mutiny was really about a kid throwing caution to the wind, breaking every music rule and just following his heart. I’m grateful people really took to it the way they did.”
With his new EP , Everything Burns, Heron hopes to strike a chord with listeners once again. With the new lead single “Tumbling Down” he seems to be ready to once again turn more skeptics into believers.
