Written by Steve Tichenor, Lead Vocal - Melanie Owens featuring Bobby Baldwin and Brad Masdon on Electric Guitars. A song about keeping your eyes on Jesus and not looking at the storm.
A collection of friends playing on their instruments.
These songs were written during the years of 1999 to 2001. It was a kind of getting back to my roots project. Ya know, when I was in grade school, my favorite singer was Hank Williams, Sr.
I've always enjoyed country and folk music and of course there's a bit of rock thrown in too. Several friends helped me with the instruments and Melanie Owens does the lead vocals.
Story behind the song
Just sort of had a vision like the twister movie and put some music to it. I can see a Alfred E. Newman character riding down the road in a '57 Chevy convertible, looking up into his rear view mirror. Behind him is the storm, ahead of him is a beautiful sky full of Jesus. Lead Vocal - Melanie Owens Backing Vocal - Darla Day Drums - Daniel Phelps Bass - Tommy Johnson Keys - William Moss Electric Guitars - Brad Masdon and Bobby Baldwin Acoustic Guitar - Steve Tichenor Recorded at First Step Studio 2001
Lyrics
In my car heading down the road,
The sky gets dark and the COWS begin to blow! A storm is coming, this much I know,
I can hear it on my radio.
In my rear view, cars are spinning 'round.
In my rear view, the tree's are falling down.
In my rear view, its tearing up the town,
But looking out my windshield I see You,
Lord what a view!
Storm clouds, they gather 'round,
The thunder rolls, now I can hear its sound,
There's a strong wind,its been following me,
Now I'm on the run to get free!
In my rear view, cars are spinning 'round.
In my rear view, the tree's are falling down.
In my rear view, its tearing up the town,
But looking out my windshield I see You,
Lord what a view!
Takes just a glance
from the windshield to the mirror,
Takes just a thought, for trust to turn to fear.
Won't look behind me, and I'll make it hrough,
I'll keep my eyes on You.
In my rear view, cars are spinning 'round.
In my rear view, the tree's are falling down.
In my rear view, its tearing up the town,
But looking out my windshield I see You,
Lord what a view!
