LAGOS TRAFFIC IS AN AFROBEAT FUSION MOVEMENT THAT BRINGS THE SOUNDS OF LAGOS TO THE WORLD CIRCUIT..... SIT BACK AND JOURNEY WITH ME THROUGH THE CROWDED STREETS.
LAGOS TRAFFIC - is an Afro-Beat, Afro-Jazz,Hip-hop and RnB movement. It is a musical mosaic of rhythms, vibes and vocal-collaborations of various artists fused together and interwoven with unique beats which incorporate the various sounds heard on the streets of Lagos... a fusion of Go-Slow fused with Afro-beat ...flowing on Afro Trance rhythms. ----- The Producer: Sheik aka Ghost Traxx. Passion: Music production. I would like my work to speak for itself... trying to use music as a tool and medium to help send a message of renewal, rebirth and change. Self taught music producer. Currently registered as a BMI composer. Background: Ghost Traxx was born to a Nigerian father and Trinidadian mother. He grew up in the eastern part of Nigeria, West Africa from where he was instilled from early childhood with African, R n B, Hip-hop and later Afro-Caribbean musical rhythms. His Musical inspiration is deeply rooted in Afro-Beat, Jazz, Hip-hop and RnB with strong influences from the great works of the Afrobeat legends Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Femi Anikulapo Kuti and a few hip-hop producers such as Neptunes, Swizz beats. Just like the great FELA KUTI most of his tracks are written and performed in Pidgin English (Broken English) flowing over hypnotic Afro fusion saxophone rhythms. Most of his songs speak about and highlight the various ills of the politicians and law makers in Nigeria and the world at large. The words tell stories of discord, tears, blood and suffering of the masses of which I definitely identify.Trials and tribulations of the youth, the old, the patriots... "Suffering and Smiling everyday trying to survive.." LAGOS TRAFFIC consists of over 200+ tracks imbibed into Volumes ...which will be released over a span of 10 years starting in mid 2020... the album is a collection of tracks, beats, rhymes and rhythms... produced within the last 10 years.... which will finally be available to the world..... It is dedicated to all the afflicted and those who constantly challenge the negative status quo... It is a reflection of Life's journey and a bound novel of thoughts imbibed with interwoven strands of musical notes depicting issues, life's quests, trials, joys....and tribulations.... Sit back and listen to a few of the tracks from the first Album of of the Master piece compilation called LAGOS TRAFFIC -The Journey continues. All instruments, drum programming and mastering also done at DaZone Studios and Digital Sound Labs Arizona, USA... Story behind the song
Afro-Cool-Jazz sound-documentary depicting the trails and tribulation of the poor and homeless people of Maroko - Listen to their cries for compensation and quest for survival in the grimy gutters and under the bridge ... a place were these many call home.... On October 15th 1990, with less than one week to quit notice announced over the radio, government bulldozers backed by military armoured vehicles, armed soldiers and police personnel demolished Maroko, Nigeria’s largest single slum community, leaving an estimated 300,000 without shelter. Homes, schools, hospitals and businesses were destroyed and over twenty cases of rape were recorded during the evictions while hundreds of others were beaten, tortured, shot or detained by the security forces. The government ruled out any prospect for compensation or resettlement of the displaced families. A decade later, less than 3% of the Maroko evictees had been resettled. The vast majority of them remained homeless with no hope of redress for their material losses and psychological pain and suffering. Worse still, during this period, no less than 25 other slum communities were wholly or partially evicted without compensation, resettlement or rehabilitation.
Lyrics
