Story behind the song
My friend Kevin Chaplin who was the lighting engineer for my band 'Strangers' tragically died on the 17th of January 2007 in an industrial accident. He left 3 children including a young baby girl. We all miss him terribly. We regularly do gigs for the air ambulance in order to raise funds for the people who tried their very best to save his life.
Lyrics
Kev I received the call in winter time I could not believe its true 3 dozen years is just a crime For such a man as you We knew we always could rely No surrender any way You would fix it while we stood in awe Until your final day But I still see you in the eyes of your children I see you in their spirit and their soul (x2) Blood brothers held against the wind We drank whisky in your name One was missing from that crowded room It would never be the same So many came to see you go They could not believe its true Those future years well never know Of such a man as you But I still see you in the eyes of your children I see you in their spirit and their soul (x2
