electronica ambient dadeo
Dadeo (born Lincoln Alejandro Steele on 10 May 1965, in Mallorca, Spain) is a Spanish/American musician, composer and music producer. The only child of Pilar Consuela Forteza, a school teacher, and Martin Cullen Steele, an American expatriot who owned and operated several souvenir shops around that island’s tourist spots. Dadeo is best known for smooth, lilting tunes fusing the styles of jazz, new age and electronica. “Linc”, as he is known to family and friends, was first exposed to music when his father gave him a small electronic keyboard for his fifth birthday. It was clear to his parents that he was gifted in music when he soon was able to easily transcribe and perform songs he heard on the radio. Dadeo’s parents were both killed in a tragic vehicle accident near Portals Vells in 1972. Dadeo escaped serious injury and was taken in by an aunt and her family who continued to encourage his musical interests and helped to further his training. In 1981, he joined cousin Harry Forteza’s band, Viva, and for the next three years toured the clubs of the island, with occasional gigs in Spain and Portugal. Eventually, the band allowed some of his compositions into their repertoire and his notoriety spread from there. Accomplished on a number of instruments, his preferences are keyboards, percussion, trumpet, flute, cornet and French horn. Dadeo holds a degree in Telematics Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Barcelona. The intensely private and reclusive musician married photographer Susan Maccabee in a civil ceremony in 1995. They currently reside near Santa Barbara, California, with their three children. Dadeo’s musical heroes are Chick Corea , Keith Jarrett and Brian Eno.
