Chris Jay Becker is an American singer-songwriter whose music has been compared to Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt and Johnny Cash.
I'm Chris Jay Becker. I'm a singer-songwriter and guitar-thumper with the occasional foray into mandolin, blues harp, and slide guitar. My songs mix rock, country, folk, the blues, and gospel. You could call it Alternative Country, Acoustic Rock, or Roots Rock. Think John Mellencamp, Steve Earle, or acoustic Springsteen. I hope you like these songs. They're lo-fi acoustic demos, but I think they're pretty good songs.lke

Lyrics
FROM MOONSHINE TO SUNSHINE I. I got a pretty big family from some pretty big hills/ Where we worked the coal mines and a couple oa€™ stills/ Ita€™s wasn't easy, but it was our life/ But my daddy always dreamed of this place in the sun/ Where his five wild children would be free to run/ In a beach shack somewhere with three dogs and a wifea€¦ II. Daddy saved up his money for a number of years/ And sometimes my mama was real close to tears/ Watching her children just getting by/ But my daddy cut a deal for some beach front land/ An old fishermana€™s shack right here on the sand / Daddy fixed it up good, mama made it look finea€¦ PreChorus: Well the stock car drivers used to race right there on the sand/ Daddy bought this old shack and he named it a€œThe Promised Land.a€ Chorus: From moonshine to the sunshine/ Gettina€™ loud on Daytona Beach/ Got an old coal shovel to dig sand castles All our dreams were in our reach/ We got a big beach blanket and a big-block car/ We got a mandolin and some mason jars/ Yeah, wea€™ve come so far/ From moonshine to sunshine! III I got a couple a cousins from way back in the woods/ And they know how to drive a big Chevy real good/ We dona€™t have money, but we have fun/ So we watch them fly in the big big race/ All the fans are screaming all over the place/ waiting for that checkered flag, watch them boys runa€¦ PreChorus 2: Well the stock car drivers used to race right there on the sand/ Now they got the big speedway right by a€œThe Promised Land.a€ Chorus: From moonshine to the sunshine/ Gettina€™ loud on Daytona Beach/ Got an old coal shovel to dig sand castles All our dreams were in our reach/ We got a big beach blanket and a big-block car/ We got a mandolin and some mason jars/ Yeah, wea€™ve come so far/ From moonshine to sunshine!
