An oldie, this is another one Luke and I recorded on the fly back in 1998. It always went over really well live and was a lot of fun to perform. Written by me, all instruments, arragement and mixing by Luke Whittall (on a TASCAM 8 track!) See story

Sometimes soft and melancholy, sometimes not..
I'm a a singer/songwriter originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I've tinkered with many instruments but pretty much stick to piano and guitar. I've been a member here at Soundclick for about 20 years now, I have met some incredible people from all over the world. I have collaborated with a lot of different musicians in my time here, but most notably I have been working quite closely with Juri Rosenfeld aka Grand Jury. Juri is an utterly amazing composer, musician, arranger, producer from Finland. And I am thrilled to be working with him. Very often the lyricist for these songs is Dawn Sinclair an extremely talented and prolific writer from England. From time to time I have worked with other artists as well, most of whom I have met here on Soundclick. Another SC member, Tom Moore and I have worked closely together on many projects as well, including a 17 song Christmas CD. I absolutely love musical collaboration but have recently been trying to focus on completing some more of my own original compositions. Also check out the band Fractured Beauty, here on Soundclick another collaboration project featuring the talents of Bob Kingdon and others with a psychedelic vibe.

Story behind the song
This song was originally written on piano, But Luke arranged it for guitar. We did have a version with percussion that we did in studio, but this one was recorded in my Livingroom on a Tascam 8 track while I lived in a big old house my fourth year of University.
Lyrics
Going Home Pack up my thin blue jeans and head for the hills the light’s too bright and my eyes can’t see and I’m feeling a chill. I’m leaving here and I’m not coming back, no, no. I can’t stand your face or the stench in this place it’s time for me to go. I’m going home. Well the trees they may stretch to the heavens, but that don’t mean answers are found. Immortality was invented by me I’m searching higher ground. It doesn’t matter if you’re fat or thin or smart or dumb or whatever’s in between. I’m just so damn sick of the sh** in this place I want a pretty new scene. And beyond the doorway I can see far beneath the skies and I know I’ve gotta move on move on, turn around and move on. Make my way into the world stand up tall and take my bow say good bye to little girl read your book and learn how. Well there’s so many ways to travel into darkness into light and as your metaphor unravels I take to the air in flight and beyond my reason I still dream in sequins and lace I picture still your face And I’m going home where the flowers grow someplace where I know all the skies are blue someplace I’ll see you.

I'm really digg'n this recording. Love the jazzy soft sound of this blues recording. Jazzy vocals that are just great of this arrangment. A perfect match. Nice and catchy. I could easily see this one performed in concert as an audience grabber. Here in Portland Oregon at the blues festival I think this would be a fantastic number that the audience would really love. There a lot of blues and jazz lovers here that turn out in large numbers to hear this kind of stuff - sitting on the grass with their wine and cheese and digg'n the sounds. I believe this would be well received here. You nailed this one right on.

Hi Babe, so I finally made it here to listen to Goin Home...I love it! It's so Amy...the vocal is immaculate and those guitars are wow! Certainly doesn't sound dated and although not as commercial as some of the current stuff, I think it is every bit as good, if not better...it's in the mode of Crocodile and Sugarbee etc...and you know I love those too!
