My sound is sweet, yet sassy but classic and timeless.
Candace Ciara Edwards (born September 20, 1984) is an American R&B singer/songwriter. She is preparing to release her debut album “Love Stories” later this year. Candace grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago (Country Club Hills), where she had a life of love, and happiness. She was introduced to music at a very early age in church. From an early age, Candace was very much into music. She sang in her church choir at the tender age of four years old. As she grew older and discovered her talented voice, she knew she was destined for greatness. Church was the pinnacle of her making, and for the voice that she has. Candace then realized the complexity of her talent. She thanks God every day for her gift. With her mother and father, Gloria and Steve Edwards, her brother, Lavan Edwards and his family standing behind her 100%, Gloria wanted the best for Candace and education meant everything to her. As Candace embarked on her education, she attended Western Kentucky University in 2002 and majored in Mass Communications. She was a vital part of the campus gospel choir, Amazing Tones of Joy. She absolutely loved singing with her peers on campus and around different small towns in Kentucky. After singing and being on stage at WKU for two years, Candace wanted change. She knew that music was something she was going pursue and have a career in. In the fall of 2004, Candace transferred to Columbia College Chicago, and that’s when the dream started for her. She double majored in Broadcast Journalism and Television. Although, she had a knack for journalism and TV, music was in her heart and it is her passion. While at Columbia she linked up with a band called Versatile (also students of Columbia) at a talent show. Candace was very nervous to showcase her voice at her new university amongst her peers but she wanted this so she sat on stage and sang “Inseperable” by Natalie Cole. That talent show was validation for her rising success. “The crowd loved me, oh my God, I was so nervous but I just sang, and it was amazing” Candace says. This wasn’t the last time Columbia College would hear Candace’s golden voice. Candace entered numerous talent shows with the band Verzatile and her peers started to respect her more and more throughout her time at Columbia. She has performed numerous times at Columbia College, Green Dolphin, McCormick Place, Tommies Place, and Harold Washington Cultural Center. Candace accomplished her educational goals this year and graduated from Columbia College Chicago on May 17, 2008 with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism/Television. Candace currently has six songs that she has completed. She has vocally produced, written and arranged all of these songs and they have gotten very good reviews from people across the U.S. The songs include: “Hey Love” which was her first song she ever wrote, arranged and recorded. There is “Decisions” which is a “live feel” song with the musical arrangements from the band, Verzatile. “Factuality”, which is word that Candace made up to express the factuality of being in love and what she expects out of the relationship. “Strugglin” is a song that Candace wrote about a relationship that went wrong. “To My Surprise” is Candace’s favorite. She says, “the song just makes you feel good. I wrote in 10 minutes and arranged it on the spot. It’s a about a relationship I’m in now that took me totally by surprise, it just makes you feel good on the inside”. Another single she has is “Do You Remember”. This is a song where you can reminisce about the love that was once shared in a relationship. Candace is a multi-faceted and multi-talented singer/songwriter who just wants to sing and express real emotion when performing in front of crowds. This Renaissance woman can do it all. Sing, write, dance, produce and arrange. That’s talent!! Her sound is sweet, yet powerful, and she makes you want to listen to every word she says. Candace writes and arranges most of the music you hear and will hear in the future. This sweet, talented, beautiful, smart, witty, and intelligent young woman I'm sure you will never forget.
