Wiseman " The Tribute Lady " Just me, my heart, God & a piano...and, life's joys, heartaches & moments. "Christ-Centered Pieces" - Given Gifts P.O. I am NOT a musician, just a housewife, mom of a wounded soldier, from a family who's lost a loved one to war ( My cousin, SP4 Guy Lamar Mears, Jr. - KIA - Vietnam ) loves life, God & family ... and, has a passion for piano." My ability to write lyrics & melodies is nothing except a "Gift Of Song" from God, and, I am called to give back to this world...by sharing my simple songs from my heart, with anyone desiring to hear them. After learning of the disaster in New York, Susan wrote the 9/11 song, known as God Will Prevail - "The Victim's Anthem," expressing her thoughts and emotions as she watched the tragedy unfolded the day before. The beautiful chord structure and effects are incredibly moving. It is her wish that all the victim's, their families, firefighters, police, rescue workers, and, military could all receive a copy of this song, with hopes that it would be a comfort to them...and...give them inspiration. It is also her desire that this song be available worldwide for anyone desiring to hear it. First offered as an online condolence to the families & our GREAT NATION ... within a 1 1/2 years, it was apparent that God was leading Susan into a Full-Time Music Ministry. Having now answered the call, performing by request, on a volunteer basis ... Susan shares her "Gift Of Song". After having written many Tribute songs over the last few years, Susan became known as " The Tribute Lady ". AWARDED - "It Is The Soldier " CD 2005 - CD of The Year AWARD Presented by The Military Writer's Society of America. Story behind the song
" At This Wall " - A Tribute in song Inspired by my first visit to ... "The Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall" In Loving Memory of my cousin ... SP4 Guy Lamar Mears, Jr. KIA - Vietnam Oct. 17, 1970 Panel - " 6 West-Line 5 " In Oct. 2007, I was finally able to visit " The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall " in Washington, D.C ... for the first time to pay my respects to SP4 Guy Lamar Mears, Jr. It had been 37 years since the loss of my cousin in the Vietnam war. Guy was tragically killed in action just weeks before coming home from Vietnam, in Oct. 1970...read the brief account below of SP4 Mear's heroic act & orders of President, the U.S.Army awarding Guy The Distinguished Service Cross, in addition to The Purple Heart. Department of the Army, General Orders No. 23 (May 30, 1972) Home Town: Rockmart, Georgia The President of the United States takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Guy Lamar Mears, Jr Specialist Fourth Class, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam, while serving with 254th Medical Detachment, 45th Medical Company, 44th Medical Brigade, 1st Logistics Command. Specialist Four Mears distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions on 17 October 1970. On that date Specialist Mears was serving as a crew chief aboard a medical evacuation helicopter near Tuy Hoa, Republic of Vietnam. The helicopter in which Specialist Mears was serving as a crew member exploded and started burning as a result of enemy fire. Specialist Mears escaped from the burning aircraft unharmed, but when he discovered the pilot of the aircraft remained trapped inside he re-entered the fiercely burning aircraft at the risk of his life in order to save the lives of fellow crew members. Specialist Mears continued his brave rescue attempt with total disregard for his own safety until he became incapacitated by mortal burns. Specialist Mears' conspicuous gallantry, extraordinary heroism, and intrepidity at the cost of his own life are in the highest traditions of the United States Army and reflect great credit on him, and the United States Army. Department of the Army, General Orders No. 23 (May 30, 1972) Home Town: Rockmart, Georgia Now, 37 years later, to finally be at " The Wall " was such an overwhelming experience ... all the emotions of the loss of Guy came rushing back, as Larry & I made our way down to Guy's panel on " The Wall, " panel " 6 West-Line 5 " ... now, forever etched in my heart & soul ... through his song, inspired out of my loving memory of Guy. Visiting " The Wall " is an overwhelming, humbling experience to all ... especially for those of us who have lost a loved one who's name is on that wall, the families of those having paid the ultimate sacrifice. As I laid a photo of Guy, lyrics to the song his memory inspired, and, a CD containing his song at the base of his panel, I was once again overcome with grief. As I tried to dry my tears, I gently felt a "tug" at my side, turning, I was gazing into a precious little girls tender eyes ... I was, no doubt in my mind... being, "Touched by an Angel" at that moment ... as this precious child began to speak, she told me ..." I'm sorry someone you loved had to get hurt." I thought surely, a parent must have told her that I lost someone & to "be kind" ... but, I quickly realized her mother had no idea what she was doing, or, why. Her geniune words of comfort had come straight from such a pure heart ... seeing me grieve, she lovingly reached out & offered comforting words to me, this child ... a total stranger ... I was SO touched! As I told her about my cousin, I witnessed first hand, the healing power of " The Wall " to
Lyrics
" At This Wall " ( I Came Here To See You ) ( Spoken Intro ) It's quiet here ... among the tears Falling ... like rain, " A Wall As Witness " A witness ... of ... Undying love As a nation ... heals ... her pain. It's quiet here ... and ... with every tear Another battle's ... won, Painful pasts ... fade ... at last " At This Wall " ... when they come. ( Verses Begin ) It's quiet here ... But, I often hear ... the shuffling of their feet. I can smell ... the lovely flowers And, I love the gifts ... laid ... at my feet. I can see the tears begin ... to flow As you fall ... on bended knee, I see you found ... my name And, Yes I know ... you came here ... to see me. And, I ... I can see you, hear you, feel you ... gently " Touch my name " Don't stop the tears from ... falling They'll help ... to ease your pain. And, " I came here ... to see you " Yes, I'm in a better place And, you're not just looking at ... a name, "At This Wall" ... we're face to face. * * * It's quiet here ... among the tears Falling ... like rain, " A Wall As Witness " ... to us all A nation ... in pain. * * * And, It's quiet here ... But, I can often hear ... the shuffling soldier's feet, As they come to see their loved ones ... too And, one's ... they did not meet. I can see how they ... struggle As you struggle ... to be ... free, From all the pain ...of war ... remembered As you grieve ... beneath our feet. ( Music Interlude ) It's quiet here, now ... " Day is done " No more shuffling ... soldier's feet, Battle's over ... Wounds were healed ... "At This Wall" Where our names ..." Rest ... there's Peace." And, It's quiet here ... And, Sometimes, I can ... only hear ... the wind. But, I knew you'd remember me ... So, " I came here to see you " ... again. (Copyright - Nov. 18, 2007) Susan D.
