Story behind the song
Elaine wrote the lyrics while pondering the unanswerable theological conundrum of predestination and freewill. It uses no less than five key changes which seem to be randomly chosen.
Lyrics
Can it be, Can I be one you've called? Can it be, do I fit into your plan for one and all? Am I able to be a servant, a servant? CHORUS Chosen Will I stand before you Lord to be Chosen? And become one in your kingdom to be Chosen? I cry in disbelief for I don't understand the call of being Chosen as a child of God Chosen as the one You love. I walk in silence feeling pains of sin I hold Knowing what you know, O Lord I am anything but bold You are who You are And I walk in my shame Because the shame of my disgrace it's forgiveness in your eyes You've chosen me to be just one with whom your promise Has no compromise, no compromise
