English lyricist working with dozens of composers and artists
I am a lyricist working with many composers and artists around the world and most frequently with 2 guys, Juri Rosenfeld and Mark Ellis who, although their styles are entirely different, are both extremely talented as musicians and composers, as well as producers. Along with these two, with whom I have written more than 50 songs....I have been most fortunate to collaborate with so many others that the list is almost endless but two very talented ladies spring to mind: Dawn Diamond and Amy Caldwell, who have not only both composed for my words but have also both are possessed of beautiful voices and have sung many, many times on songs I have written. There is no ONE genre I write for, since a lyricist has to be able to write for ANY category and I do, but one thing I try to be always, is honest in my work because when there is integrity, there is a way to relate to the song and if occasionally I meander into the poetic, it is because I am and always have been, since the age of 13 years, a poet...but that doesn't mean everything I write is flowery or full of metaphors...as I say, I strive always to be real and of course, most importantly, to be as unique as possible.

Story behind the song
Someone asked me a year or two ago to weave a lyric around a story idea he had...I did so and this is it, but he never used the lyric and I have so wanted it to be used because of the message it contains....Mark stepped up to the plate....
Lyrics
Mighty Oak lyric by Dawn Sinclair music Mark Ellis Young soldier planted the acorn when he returned from the war time sprouted wings and the little seed came to be much more As back to the Earth a man soul goes So the mighty oak from an acorn grows Oak tree stood so proudly, spread its arms to the sky And watching from his window It filled the young boy's eye As back to the Earth a man soul goes So the mighty oak from an acorn grows A home for hoarding squirrels A place for hide and seek Goal post or a cricket stump but not for the boy grown weak As back to the Earth a man soul goes So the mighty oak from an acorn grows And when the golden oak leaves would tumble to the ground children would bury themselves under the mound As back to the Earth a man soul goes So the mighty oak from an acorn grows Oak tree stood one hundred years Then suddenly was no more Trunk and limbs made coffins For the man, his dreams and more As back to the Earth a man soul goes So the mighty oak from an acorn grows

Very "Mule of Kentyreish" song.I love these celtic embellishments, and the whole composition. Can't say precisely what is purely English and what's celtic,-as in my mind these elements are vry vagely separated.Mark's delivery and arrangments are professional and with the personal footprint,as always.Lyrics is philosophical and deep, suits this song very well.Congrats all over!!

A Cracker? Now how do I top that description? A Cracker it is! Nice easy listening and Marks vocals remind me so much of Denny Laine and Wings but how many times have I said that? LOL! Nice work and concept of a mans soul and the mighty oak. I actually heard this over on MP3 unsigned earlier but came to listen in full headphones in more familiar haunts. Good collab.

I really like the lyrics here especially the last verse about the tree being made into coffins , will listen to this alot , very nice arrangement fits well with the words and one of my favorite styles to listen too. Marks vocals are always so clear and pleasing to the ear and his melodies weave so subtley into a crescendo. cheers D

Hugglies babe, Love the folksy feel and as I listened, it crossed from a Simon and Garfunkel type start to a Jethro Tull sort of feel. Lyrics work well and Marks subdued voice suited the feel of the song. Overall a good listen , well done both of you.
